Due to the number of new features included in this expansion, an update of the game will be required for all players (even those who do not install the expansion). This version update will be performed on the following date in conjunction with the release of the expansion. FINAL FANTASY XI will not be affected during this version update, and play will continue as normal. A new preview video for Chains of Promathia is available on the PlayOnline website, giving some backstory to the new expansion. There are two versions, one with English text and one with Japanese text; the Japanese one is longer and has more scenes. A new guide is available, explaining everything regarding Abjuration armor and how it's created. It details the abjuration items, the cursed crafted items, the final equipment and gives some background on how it all works. The abjuration items include the Amrita drink and Ambrosia food, as well as the six abjuration armor sets: Zenith, Shura, Adaman/Armada, Koenig/Kaiser, Hecatomb, and Crimson/Blood. Added crystal dropped, and weaknesses to most mobs. If you see any errors/missing ones please leave feedback. Thanks. Item search and advanced item search now accept searches that only include a job. For example all Black Mage usable equipment between level 10 and 30 is now a valid search. -- Palos

A number of updates went in today. The last three crafting guilds have had their recipes reviewed and updated, marking the completion of this round of synthesis recipe fixes. All the recipes were updated for the for Leathercraft, Smithing, and Woodworking guilds. The recipes were updated, and many new ones added, for the synthesis upgrades to Conquest Equipment. Extra information was added for the level 51 elemental staves, explaining their hidden stats.
