Site Updates - July 1, 2005

A massive update provides map images across the site, icons for all items, a new NM guide, background info to the site, and more!

We have teamed up with Vana'diel Atlas to provide detailed map images throughout the ffxi.somepage.com site. Vana'diel Atlas is the best site for the map images of zones in FFXI, and we are proud to work with them to bring a copy of their excellent maps here. Every area map in the game is now reflected on the zone pages, with display options for the standard zone map, NM info, and Chest & Coffer load locations. The vast majority of NMs found in the mob database display specific maps for their spawn locations. A handful of NPCs also have maps showing their location.

Icons have been added to the item display. These are taken from the FFXI data files, and are the icons displayed at the Auction House or when examining an item in inventory. Every item in the database now has it's appropriate icon; a check was done at the same time, to make sure that no items in the game were missing from the database.

A slew of new and updated guides went in:
A new Notorious Monsters (NM) Hunting Guide has been added, providing info about NMs in general, and a list of interesting NMs and other mobs worth hunting. Combined with the maps added to nearly all the NMs, it gives an easy way to see at a glance the drops from FFXI's most dangerous monsters.

The Map Item Acquisition Guide was updated with more map info for all zones that have maps.
The Fantasy XI Resource Repository was updated with new and updated links for every area of FFXI.
The Chests & Coffers Guide was recently updated with further information about these troves of treasure. All zones with chests and coffers now have maps with their load locations, as well.

Every zone in the database was updated with a new field: Search Name. This is the name used when utilizing the /search command in FFXI. All characters in a specific zone can be displayed this way; to search for everyone in Horutoto Inner Ruins, the command /sea InHorutoto can be used. Note that the search names are not case-sensitive; they are displayed as stored internally in the FFXI client, but either case can be used.

Updates were made to the display of a number of pages: the pages for zones, mobs, NPCs, and items all received tweaks. The item database was updated in a large fashion internally; if any info is missing that was previously displayed, please leave feedback to let us know.

This great site just got even better :) How about estimated solo-able level for standard mobs. This would be usefull for planning a farming run or when you enter a new zone (do I go to bibi at 45....). How about a van timer in the corner expandable to the full guild/pattern/airship timer. keep up the good work.
