October 2006 FFXI Patch Compilation of Info

The October 18, 2006 Final Fantasy XI patch brought a number of additions to the game: changes to Chocobo raising, a large set of new items, Assault additions, and more. Updated Items

A number of items were updated in the patch, and are listed below.

  • Sanguine Sword is now Exclusive and Rare.
  • Palladium Dagger is now Exclusive.
  • 300+ items had their small icons updated in this patch, mainly to streamline their look. All of the item icons have been updated in our database to reflect these changes; as you browse through it or in the game, you may notice some icons looking a little different than they had previously.
  • As mentioned in the patch notes, the following items were changed to be able to be used by all three of the newest jobs (COR, BLU, PUP): Linen Doublet, Linen Doublet +1, Wool Doublet, Wool Doublet +1.
  • The items for the Brygid The Stylist Returns quest have been updated, to be usable by the new jobs: Shikaree Aketon is now usable by COR; Cerise Doublet is now usable by PUP (it had been changed to be usable by BLU in a previous patch). The corresponding subligaria was updated: Virgo Subligar is now usable by COR; Libra Subligar is now usable by PUP.

Summary: The perfumier Liliroon has come to Salaheem's Sentinels in search of help, believing it to be a famous detective agency. President Naja wants you to help collect her lucrative reward.

Mission Description: Mission Orders: Ambassador Karababa has arrived from the Federation of Windurst. The planned festivities turn into puppet rivalry, and the insulted ambassador bypasses the palace in favor of a visit to the Shararat Teahouse.


Mission Name: Teahouse Tumult
Mission Description: Mission Orders: You have been asked to guide Lady Karababa to the Olduum ruins found in the tunnels of the Aydeewa Subterrane. How will Naja react to your freelancing? And what are Aphmau and friends planning...?


Mission Name: Finders Keepers
Mission Description: Mission Orders: After snatching the Olduum artifact, Lady Karababa has left for Salaheem's Sentinels. What business could she possibly have with a mercenary company?


Mission Name: Shield of Diplomacy
Mission Description: Mission Orders: You are once again in the employ of Lady Karababa. This time, your role is to protect the ambassador within the ominous Navukgo Execution Chamber. Will you be able to redeem your reputation with President Naja...?


Mission Name: Social Graces

Assault Missions

Assault Name: Supplies Recovery
Assault Description: Area: Leujaoam Sanctum
Objective: Retrieve the supplies
Recruitment: Lv.70, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: A logistics unit headed to the front lines of the war with the Far East was attacked and their supplies were stolen. The enemy then fled toward Leujaoam Sanctum. An Immortals unit will also join in the recovery.


Assault Name: Azure Experiments
Assault Description: Area: Leujaoam Sanctum
Objective: Become a test subject
Recruitment: Lv.70, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: The Imperial alchemists have developed various tissues to graft onto and strengthen the bodies of the Immortals, but they need test subjects for clinical experiments. Go lend your assistance.


Assault Name: Imperial Treasure Retrieval
Assault Description: Area: Mamool Ja Training Grounds
Objective: Recover the treasure
Recruitment: Lv.50, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: A puk recently stole a treasure box containing enchanted gems from the royal treasury. The gems were then given to Mamool Ja officers as a reward for duty. Find and retrieve the treasure.


Assault Name: Blitzkrieg
Assault Description: Area: Mamool Ja Training Grounds
Objective: Annihilate the enemy
Recruitment: Lv.70, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: After shedding their skins, the Mamool Ja gather for a festival to celebrate their new scales and dance until exhausted. This is a prime opportunity to catch them off guard!


Assault Name: Apkallu Breeding
Assault Description: Area: Lebros Caverns
Objective: Match the apkallu
Recruitment: Lv.60, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: Due to their intelligence and ability to travel through both water and on land, the rare Lebros Apkallu is prized by the navy as a messenger bird. Help increase their numbers by pairing them up.


Assault Name: Wamoura Farm Raid
Assault Description: Area: Lebros Caverns
Objective: Remove the threat
Recruitment: Lv.70, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: The enemy has begun raising swarms of wamoura in the Lebros Caverns. If they reach adulthood, they would present a formidable threat. Infiltrate the Lebros Caverns and destroy them.


Assault Name: Stop the Bloodshed
Assault Description: Area: Periqia
Objective: Exterminate the chigoes
Recruitment: Lv.50, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: The Lamiae are preparing to release swarms of chigoes in Al Zahbi to collect blood samples. Destroy the chigoes and thwart their plan.


Assault Name: Defuse the Threat
Assault Description: Area: Periqia
Objective: Clear the mine fields
Recruitment: Lv.60, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: The Lamiae have hired Qiqirn demolition experts to set land mines in Periqia. You must eliminate this hazard for the soldiers.


Assault Name: Apkallu Seizure
Assault Description: Area: Ilrusi Atoll
Objective: Capture the apkallu
Recruitment: Lv.70, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: Famous biologist Professor Clavauert is researching apkallu on Ilrusi Atoll. The more discoveries he makes in Aht Urhgan, the more likely he is to join the Empire. Assist him by capturing apkallu.


Assault Name: Lost and Found
Assault Description: Area: Ilrusi Atoll
Objective: Find the ring
Recruitment: Lv.60, 3-6 mercenaries
Mission Orders: The Empress's uncle Bashalab visited Ilrusi Atoll in secret and lost his ring, the "Eye of Zahak." Escort the royal family's hired agent through Ilrusi Atoll and find his lost ring.
