Without a doubt, Celerity Salad, but that has a level 75 cooking skill and contains lots of hard to find (currently anyway) ingredients. You're best off talking to the people at the stable--one of them will tell you all sorts of things, including different kinds of food. Depending on what you want to raise them for, different foods may be best. For instance, if you want a fast chocobo, vomp carrots and carrot paste are pretty good. Vomp carrots can be grown from Wildgrass seeds in a brass or porcelain pot, and fed with an earth crystal, though the recipe is not guaranteed. Fortunately the seeds can be purchased quite cheaply in Al Zahbi.

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know I got the story of the "impatient" choco the other day. Well I put my choco in basic care for one day after I recieved the story and on that days report my choco's status changed to "your choco is very patient making him good for carrying parcels". I read the descrpiton of the key item for the story and it said "a story (insert elvaan care takers name from sando) can read to your choco while under his care" this leads me to believe you do not read the story to your choco, rather the npc does while the choco is under his care. Just a thought. I mean my chocos personailty change to "patient" after recieving the "impatient choco" can't just be a coincidence.

if i remember correctly i should be on day 14 almost 1/2 way through the 30days the npc kid said it'd take for my choco to be ridable (if thats how u spell it) and its still a chick so im expecting a change soon. Mine has recently recovered from a coma and ive gone from "considered as parent" or w/e it is to "it seems to slightly enjoy my company" but i can understand why this is so, so i plan to watch the crap out of it to get that parental love back. If anyone that has gotten the "ill-tempered, good for military use" description could tell me what they are doing to their choco so that i might get this description thatd be super sweet b/c the militant chocos happen to be the black ones i believe so id like to get that chance at a black choco or a future parent for one.

The description on the story items is:

A story <NPC> tells the chocobos under his care.

Which does not suggest that the NPC tells the chocobo the story, but that it is a story that that particullar NPC uses and so if you want to learn other stories, you will have to intercat with other Chocoguys.

I have had my egg for 4 days now. I traded him on Firesday. He is a Bastokan. I found out he was a male and OMG adorable. His name is "Mister Dobbin". I walked him and he met "Blood" on his first lil walk! (I didn't check the day was too absorbed in his cuteness.) I gave him a second walk cause his lil tushy is sooo cute. I noticed he only had a little life bar left. I panicked bought some over priced Vegetable Paste and gave him one. (73 Cook BTW ugh...) When I began to feel overwhelmed by not knowing what to do and what food effects him how I came here. (I see most are just as lost as me.) The gathered info will help me I am sure and has answered some of my questions. Guess its a lot of trial and error.

I've been trying to get a male chocobo to breed with a friends female chocobo. So far.. no luck lol. I've used the Faintly Warm Egg and Slightly Warm Egg and both were females. I'm trying the Bit Warm Egg now.. and hopefully i'll have better luck. If anyone else has info on how to determine the gender of your chocobo..please let me know :)I really want a male T.T

Day 14 or 15...i dont remember.
Started with the slightly warm egg, watched over him (is a male) 3 to 6 times a day. When it hatched, i put him in "basic care" plan for 1 day, "walk in town" a couple of days, then 1 "rest" day, then alterned "walk" and "listen" in a 3:1 basis. I'm feeding him only carrot paste, take 2 walks a day, and now i only watch him 3 times a day. He loves me, see me as a parent, got only 1 time ill (i gave him only 1 tokopekko grass and recovered), and got 2 cutscenes with "Air" in Sandy. Yesterday my choco finally got a personality, seems that is "very patient, making him ideal to carry packages", and got my second message "seems that your chocobo is very responsive to what you feed now" or something like that. The second time i fed him 1 zegham carrot, and got a strange message (seems it liked a lot) and after that, every time i "watch" over him, he is "very energetic". Seems that carrot based food boost physical stats, or endurance at least. I'm just waiting to see him grow to adolescent stage.
I hope this info may help people who want to get an endurance or speed based choco.

Hey I know that no one knows anything yet but I am on day 14 with my chocobo "Diamond Galaxy" a sweet little girl so 14 days and she is no diffrent then the day she hatched all atraibutes are bore she knows no ablities doesn't have a weather prefernce nor a pesronality. the only thing that has changed is how much she likes me right now it is at parent lvl. I have been feeding here azouph greans and recently started feeding her sandy carrots accutaly just stared that today. I really want a black one so I have been foucsing or stragh and endurce atrrubites as i have said before no change at all, so I have only been doing basic care and take a walk, though I did do rest one time. Only care options are talk a walk and watch over it. Main question when does it become a teenager anyone know?

My chocobo is Jolly Meteor. He is male and I have fed him 1 vegatable paste and a ton of carrots, sandorian and zegham. I usually feed him till he is completely full, take him for some walks and watch over him until his bar is at 25%.

I have the story of an impatient chocobo, and he has yet to be sick. I accidentally had him on rest for 2 days right at beginning, but he woke up.

I only check him once a day. He thinks of me as his parent.

I've been raising my chocobo since the first day the quest was added and all her attributes are still poor, I've started feeding her vomp carrots tho because i heard that can help the strength and also the speed of the choco later on. If anyone knows what else could help improve the chocobo's attribute's a little more quickly I would appreciate it.

I got a girl named her Belle Breeze. We met Spring in Windy on our 3rd walk, my boyfried's didnt meet anyone til like his 10 walk and I dont remember its friends name. I set all my care schedules because I noticed that once the ones you put in are done it goes back to basic care.

Belle seems to get ill after I give her veggie paste so I dont give her that anymore. When she gets ill I give her 1 of the Topeo Grass in the morning and then another when I put her to bed at night. She is normally well the next day.

Been feeding her the Azoph...Grass and she gobbles it up in one gulp. On my server the prises of the choco food/grasses have calmed down a bit but I prefer to grow my own.

She still has no stats but she does "regard me as her parent". We'ved gotten the hanky and the story key items and we meet Spring on every 4th or 5th walk. Dontcha just smile when they stand up on thier tip toes and flap thier wings "High Sprits" its just too cute. I check her in the mornin, thats when I get her daily report, We go on 2 walks and I look after her til her life bar is half full. I also feed her til she is full at this time (1 Azoph Grass and one gelsba Green. I check on her again when I get home from work and just watch over her a couple of times. Then when I'm ready to go to bed we go on 2 more walks and I watch over her a couple of times making sure she has bout 1/4 life bar when I log.

I think its just me but she seems bigger than she was at the start. Cant wait til she is full grown.

Good Luck everyone hope you raise fine chocos!

The one thing that I have noticed is that there is a connection between the energy that you leave it at while the next day changes. For example, if it has 50% energy bar remaining... the next day it will be a little hungry you do not have to feed it as much to get completely full. If you bring the energy bar down to 1%, it is starving the next day.

I (for one) walk him as many times as I possibly can and watch over it until the bar has been fully depleted where I can't even watch over him anymore. I have been feeding it 2 veg. pastes and 1 Sandy Carrot per day. It has never been sick or tired and has been in it "hyped up mood" 3x now, but is did cry at night once (white hankey fixed that right up though).

As far as schedules go, I set it for walks around town every day. It has an "Ill temper making it ideal for military use". I hope this one has the making of being a parent of a Black Choco... but that is pure speculation atm.

Yesterday was day 17 and all attributes were still poor as of last night.

i think its become obvious that the color of your chocobo is determined by the way you raise it.

my chocobo was "quite sensitive, makeing it good wih people", and i got a plain old yellow chocobo, from the isnm uncapped egg, a friend hatched the same egg, and his personality was : ill tempered, makieng it good for millitaru use, and his is black, im waiting for my sister, hers was ill temperd too. betcha hers is black also.

Mine was 'sensitive', but about 4 days before adolescence it changed to 'enigmatic'. Now at day 19 it's yellow with whitish tips. I really hope that someone can accumulate some info together on what the implications of the chocobo's personality are.
