My baby Choco is nearly out of HP! Help. I don't know what to do to save little ChallengerHero.

Scared breeder.

Your chocbo looses "hp" when you do things with it, its how tired it is. Putting 'rest' in your chocobo care plan, should solve the problem, also, it has been stated that certain foods will also help in that matter, though I am not terribly sure which ones do what, and there is the matter of over feeding.

My chocobo also hatched on the fourth day. My bit egg yielded a female, who so far has no personality or preferences. I must say that she is the... cutest... thing... ever! So far the only care options are "watch over" and going for a short walk. Care schedule options are basic care, walking, and music, which according to SE's chart means at this early stage we can choose between physical and mental acuity.

I must say that for names we have... so many options! I chose Brilliant Fire, though I suppose that's a little cliche. Looking into those doe eyes though...

I was sure that I would be told a breed along with a gender when the egg hatched, but I guess they surprised us all now, didn't they? This will make it much more challenging to obtain colors, and I guess I suspected they might not tell us breeds, but I must say that I'm... glad. Not knowing her breed, I appreciate her as an individual even more. Or maybe it's the eyes again.

In regards to the realism of temperature-based sex determination. In birds, sex is determined by the Z and W chromosomes, but unlike in mammals, it's the mother's chromosome that "decides". However, in some reptiles it's known that the temperature at which the eggs are incubated can determine the gender of the offspring.

Even if chocobos do not use temperature dependent determination, the temperature of the egg could still be an indicator of what gender the baby already is. Males and females could conceivably just put out more or less heat inside the egg, and this could be a way to diagnose the gender with a certain amount of certainty taking into account variation among individuals. So in short, no, I don't think it's unrealistic. :P

Day 5: Chocobo is feeling slightly sick. NPC asked for Tokopekko Wildgrass.. traded it and still slightly ill. Ran out of Tokopekko so I tried Garidav Wildrass. Still ill!! Its now full so I don't want to feed it until later... I hope it will be okay... I don't know what I did wrong but I feel bad. I want to raise it right. Im using the egg from 75 ISNM.. maybe the harder it is to raise has something to do with its breed. if anyone can help me with my chocobos illness, I will truly appreciate it.

There are certain species of Birds in our own eco-system in real life where egg warmth does determine gender, there arn't many and I'm not alert enough to go looking either :P Blame the Animated Longsword, anyways back on track...

SakuraAngel hasnt gotten sick but I had to modify her plan, resting for tomorow, walk, rest, music, blah blah blah.

Does anyone know what happens when your chick's stamina bar is empty? becuase I really do not want to be the first to find out :o

Kami, my best guess is that the illness will take time to heal. If you've fed it and it's full, and you've done your best, there's nothing to do but wait for the next day. In my experience, feeding doesn't recuperate health right away either, but overnight my bird did recover. It would make sense that illnesses works the same way--chicken soup doesn't cure you immediately either. I think you're doing everything right and there's nothing to do but wait.

I think the Tokkopekko Wildgrass is only a medicine to help the Chocobo lose the illness. If you eat medicine in Real life you are not health immediately. It will only help the Chocobo. Wait a little bit and the illness will be gone.

Also, make sure your Care Plan is set to Resting. It will help with the healing process. Unfortunately, my hubby's got sick also and we couldn't find the medicine for her but she was all better today with a little rest.

So, has anyone gotten a colored chocobo yet or are we only able to get yellow right now?

All choco's are yellow at the start, do thinks to raise the stats and those stats determine the colour.

For example, the black chocobo needs hight strengt, so take walks and do other stuff to raise strengt.

I gues it changes colour once it reaches the younger or adult state..............

They are on the site and were included in the update information. Some of them require almost NO cooking skill whatsoever. Some are low-mid level and the best food is around level 75! I made some vegetable paste and had a hard time trying to get my hands on some lizard eggs. I had to go to Dangruf Wadi and farm lizards just so I can make some vegetable paste. It was cheap to make but I've seen people selling it for as much as 4k each...

Upon examination, it says that my chocobo is making "a fuss" at night and he eats his food "weakly." This doesn't so much sound like sickness as more of a lonliness or something. Also, i got a white handkerchief with my scent on it for the chocobo. Has anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it?

I have the same problem today but i found this item on here

Dirty Handkerchief
Description: A used handkerchief that smells faintly of sweat and chocobos.

I'm guessing chocobo riding for a long time...

I think I solve the chocobo sleeping issue...

Actions that i did:
1) Ride on a rented chocobo until i got kicked off
2) I spoke to my NPC.

Pulonono>> That should be enough! Hand over the white handkerchief now.
Pulonono>> Hm...yes...the chick should be able to sleep well with this...

3) I guess i'll check my Chocobo tommorow ^-^

One of my ls members went for a ride and when he completed a long round trip with his chocbo he returned to the trainer and gave the trainer the now dirty handkercheif.
