Not only that, but they have plenty of time to implement new color models, etc., by the time chocobos are old enough to mate. *crosses fingers*

Does anybody remember SE saying that they had only implemented 3 breeds so far? Or was it 3 colors (ie the rare mutations of 3 of the breeds)? Since it stands to reason that if they only have 3 breeds available but all 5 eggs, that there can't be a one to one correspondence between breeds and eggs. But if they meant colors, then, judging by the furnishing items, it should be possible to breed black, blue, and yellow chocobos already, plus yellow birds of all 5 breeds. So I'm all confuzzled and...

I think too much? XD

The process of raising a chocobo from egg, to chick, to adolescent, to adult will take approximately one month (Earth time).

Quote from: Color
Once your chocobo has reached a mature stage of development, it is possible to match it with other chocobos. The resulting offspring may exhibit the attributes or coloring of its parents.

There should have color already

Quote from: SE
It was stated in the June 19 Topics that a chocobo’s appearance would change along with its attributes. Due to an extension of the testing period, these changes will now be implemented in a following version update.

I currently am working on a little experiment myself. I myself want a blue one, so I did a few things that may affect it.

(note that I am using a 'faintly' egg, because im kinda lazy when it comes to quests. =P)

I made my Mog House filled with powerful Water Energy.

I got the Moghancement:Water.

I turned in the egg on a Watersday.

Sadly. I wasnt able to catch the moon phase, forgot to get that. Anyway, I will make sure to report here when my lil Choco hatches ^-^

Ya know i haven't read anything from SE stating that you cannot raise as many chocobos as you want simultaneously. i'm kinda short on gil at the moment but i would like to try and see if i could raise 2 at the same time. Also, to the contrary of only raising a single chocobo at a time. SE did say that you can not have more than one of your chocobos registered as your mount at a time. food for thought.

In response to Zack's comment about there being nothing to say that you can't raise more than one bird at once... (pointing you out specifically because it will be a while before the post is approved, and it will be discontinuous otherwise--no offense)...

Square has implied that it is possible to HAVE more than one chocobo at once available to you for registering to ride (one at once, but you can keep the cards around), and to mate, but that you cannot have more than one entered in the RAISING process. That is, I would assume, taking care of it and altering its traits.

Beginning Chocobo Raising
The process of chocobo raising begins when you trade an egg obtained from a shop or battlefield to a VCS chocobo trainer (located in the stables of the three starting nations). You won’t be able to tell the attributes or coloring of your chocobo until the egg hatches.
*Note that you cannot trade another egg to a chocobo trainer once the chocobo raising process has begun. Also, the process of raising a chocobo must be continued in the nation where the egg was traded.

Chocobos will eventually be retired from the raising process. It is possible to voluntarily retire an adult chocobo by speaking with the VCS trainer and selecting the option “Retire your chocobo.”
A retired chocobo will be registered on a VCS registration card, and taken into the care of the VCS.
*A retired chocobo can no longer be involved in the chocobo raising process.
*A chocobo with which you have chosen the option “Give up chocobo raising” will not be registered on a VCS registration card.
*A VCS registration card will only be issued once. Please take care not to throw the card away.

- Matchmaking and Riding Retired Chocobos
Trade the VCS registration card to the VCS trainer. You will then have the option to obtain a chococard or register to call your chocobo.

So when a chocobo is required, you can still ride and mate them, just no longer raise them. That is, I guess, change them. But you specifically cannot raise more than one at once. You may have access to many, though, after you have raised them. Make sense?

SE said that the appearance would change with its atributes but that does not mean you cant get a chocobo of a different color.

Not only is it level 75, it seems to have just about the best stuff you could give a chocobo. Man, I'm glad I can make these. :3 I'm going to spoil my bird like mad.

Celerity Salad:

[Wind] Gausebit Grass, Blue Peas, Cupid Worm, La Theine Millet, La Theine Cbg., King Truffle, Shall Shell, Vomp Carrot
(recipe from ffrecipe.com)

I wonder if giving a chocobo a food containing worms as an ingredient can have the same potential negative effecs as feeding them a worm directly. The chocoguy said something akin to "feeding a worm at the wrong time can make all your work come to naught" or somethin'. Still, I won't be able to resist feeding a few of these.

As a side note, I just sent my level 20 mule to Jeuno in hopes of picking up an egg. When I spoke Brutus, he gave me the Chocobo on the Loose quest BEFORE he gave me the liscence quest! Fortunately speaking to him a few more times prompted him to offer me a liscence. Soon I will be sending my level 5 mule to Jeuno for the same purpose, and we will see if one can raise an egg without even having a liscence or being high enough level. Even if eggs are exclusive and chocobos can't be transferred, a serious breeder can still use a mule to raise breeding stock. All one would need is the will and a friend to ferry the chococards, theoretically.

One does not need a chocobo liscence or level 20 to raise a chocobo. My mule had no problem.

Well, I found some info on the warmth of eggs that was confirmed today. The warmth of the Egg determines the gender. Now the egg Brutus gives you is a 50-50 chance of Male Or Female. Today my egg hatched (I used Brutus and so did my friend Ayame in Japan). Mine hatched Female, and her's Male, we did the same routine together, each day we cared for it once every 2 hours.

some are 100 percent Female, 100 percent Male, 75percent etc. Eldena of Hades discovered this too and I wish to thank her. also if she's reading this and I miss spelled your name, Sorry heh.

So my egg hatched 4 days, Sakura Angel. ^-^ Here's hopeing she grows into a great digging bird.

If anyone else can find corrections to the warmth-gender deal Please let me know. Becuase warmth-Hatching time is totally busted.

well im not sure or anything but someone said that SE is trying to make this as life like as possible, wouldn't that mean that the chances for male or female are just random, as in RL gender isn't something u can just make a baby be, so wouldnt all eggs have a 50/50 chance?
