i could be wrong but...

i think its one sweet per item per day

cookies are the best deal for the gil so i only have cinna cookies and ginger cookies...
i can get 2 items per game day with them...

first trade seems to get a costume, then i trade a few more times to that same npc- get a few thankyous- then within 10 trades get an item.

not sure if you can get more than 1 item from the same npc cause i got 4 so far from 4 diff npcs.

also there may be reqirements as to what item you will get according to frostadora's post on alla:
To get:

Treat staff, wear the trick staff
Treat staff II, wear Trick staff II
Horror Head, wear Pumpkinhead
Horror Head II, wear Pumpkinhead II
____

Trick Staff - wear non halloween weapon or nothing
Trick Staff II - non halloween weapon/nothing
Pumpkinhead - non Halloween hat/nothing
Pumpkinhead II - non Halloween hat/nothing

i can confirm that the wearing of the equipment doesn't matter

i traded some cookies to one of the dressed NPCs in north sandoria while wearing a treat staff II and a trick staff II in my inventory, and the NPC tried to give me a trick staff II. I already had the item though so it didn't let me have it.

Hmmm...

Got me thinkin' on that one now:

Trick Staff II - wearing nothing Halloween related; (traded Ginger Cookie, first trade)

Pumpkin Head I - wearing nothing Halloween related; (traded Ginger Cookie, same day traded as receiving Trick StaffII)

Horror Head I - wearing Pumpkin Head I; (traded Ginger Cookie first, nothing. Traded Rolanberry Pie, obtained Horror Head)

So..not positive on the one sweet, per item, per day deal. As I did obtain two items in the same day with the same treat traded. I dunno, I've come to accept the overt randomness of this game. Love it or hate it, it's how it is :p

I have a question about the Treat STaff (one). It says the latent effect is Warp. So does this mean if I equip it and attack a mob...manage to hit it...AND manage to get latent..POOF! Warp?

me and LS got real lucky, I traded 10 cookie at North Sandy NPC inside shop, got Trick Staff II, then ZONE (remember), traded another 20 cookies to other NPC at North Sandy in other shop, got Treat Staff II. you have to keep trading it, you will get a lot "Thank you...", but it's ok.

My wife got her Hat with 3 trades of Cholocate.

The latent effect is only active during the Halloween Event. You equip it, attack a mob, and randomly get warped. You won't get warped on the first hit, and sometimes you'll manage to kill the mob and not get warped. Agan, it only works during Halloween Event and will randomly warp you. Can get annoying. I hope to see info on the tridents, but by the message left by that M.H.M.U. thingy, isn't there going to be a decoration, or MH thing we might be able to get? I haven't heard any info about this at all.

As I recall, this is how it worked last year. I traded hundreds of oranges and cookies last year and only got the Trick and Pumpkin stuff. I didn't find out what I was doing wrong until the event was over.

I played around with this a little before I had to leave for work. It seemed to me that I would only receive 1 reward per type of treat once per Vana'diel day. For example, I traded a ginger cookie, a cinna cookie, and an acorn cookie to NPCs in Windurst Waters and received 3 different costumes. However, I did not get anything by trading any additional cookies to NPCs until the clock rolled over to the next day.

From the info available so far, this year's event is somewhat different from last year's. For one, the wearing the same type of item doesn't help get the other of that type (Horror Head and Pumpkin Head, for example.) Also, as noted above, fruit doesn't work for this; it sounds like it has to be crafted treats to feed the NPCs. Regardless of which item you turn in (of the accepted ones,) it's random which of the following items you can obtain:

Trick Staff
Trick Staff II
Treat Staff
Treat Staff II
Pumpkin Head
Pumpkin Head II
Horror Head
Horror Head II

So far, nothing has shown up with the new Pitchfork items; they might add a second part to the event later on, since that seems to be the way recent events have been run.

As an addition: if you're new to these type of events, be sure to check out the full list of Sweets which are the main items used here. Many of the snack foods in there can be purchased rather cheaply, to avoid the price jumps that will happen on the Auction House for a while, during the event.

Melon pie = pumkin head 2
rice cake = Trick staff 1

so for traded these sweets
you can only get one item per game day
only needed to trade one of these sweets not stacks or 10
just 1.

I do not believe you can only get one item per game day at all. I have gotten 7 of the items and I have only been playing for 2 hours at most. There is no way its been 7 game days. So please people, stop posting that misinformation. The only item I have left other than the pitchforks is the Horror Head (one). And just for the record I got all these items with just ginger cookies. And I got all of them in Windurst Woods other than one. I got the treat staff II in waters. Hope this helps some people.

My personal recommendation is Garlic Crackers, sold for 4 gil at the main desk of the Tenshodo building in Lower Jeuno.

I bought four stacks of these, and got all 8 of the items in the 2 hours the server was up before emergency maintenance. When I logged back in afterward I bazzar'd them for 15 gil each (the same as the cheapest NPC-sold snack I could find in Windy), net result being I gained my 8 items for a total cost of about 1,500 gil.

Now to spend some time looking for those pesky moogles. It's possible they won't show up until later, but if not I may as well look now.

The only trend I've seen so far is that the first time (in each game day) that you trade each type of sweet you get either an item or a costume.

Beyond that it seems random so far.

You certainly can get items on trades other than the first one and you can get more than one item per game day.

ok. I have gotten all 8 items now. Still not sure how to get a pitchfork. I have thought about trading atleast one thing to every NPC, but that doesn't seem to work. I am not sure if I am finished with all the NPCs though. I was also thinking about, what someone stated earlier, trading the items you get as a package for the fork, but I doubt thats it. That would be slightly cruel of SE. We'll see though. I will keep you posted. Some guy claimed that he got the Fork but he didn't have it equipped, and he called it "stupid" so I assume he was trying to get people to start asking him questions like he is important or something. Ah well.

Yea probably some poor kid reaching out for attention. From my understanding, now mind you this is an "assumption" it will be a mog event like any other event with a +1 version. Why the Mogs have not yet appeared, that is anyone's guess.

I am sure within' 24 hours from the opening of the servers we will either have some word from SE about the screw up or the mogs will finally appear. I guess we just need kick back until then, although you would have thought with the 9 new .dat files the mog placement would have been one of them.

yes, but as with most items like that, you have to have it equipped for a certain amount of time before you can cast warp, and the stats are awful

This is incorrect.

What you wear does affect it.

I got the Trick Staff II on my first attempt, first NPC.

The next item I got, while wearing the Trick Staff II, was the Treat Staff II.

Wearing Treat Staff II, they tried to give me a new Trick Staff II (so I'm assuming that if you wear a "HQ" they give you the NQ).

Wearing nothing, I got a Trick Staff I, which while wearing I got a Treat Staff I. This was all within 3 RL hours (while doing other stuff too).

I don't recall if I was wearing anything when I randomly got a Pumpkinhead II, but immediately, the next item I got (while wearing P2) was the Horrorhead II.

So I'm 6/8 and I only spent 3 hours doing it. Not bad for my first night before bed :-) Good luck to everyone else out there.

Hmm...or does that mean if you're wearing it and you get attacked/yellow, you go "poof" mid-battle?

Heh, bet your PT will love that one *grin*

Here is my "guess" on how the Pitchfork item(s) will be obtained, only a guess but based on some facts.

It will be alot like the prior "Toro hunt". There will be 2 BOMB type mobs we gang up on and kill, one the NQ mob,the other the HQ. Look at the baloons in the cities, and re-read what SE posted originally... something about "..it uses the same principal of flight as the airships... should be safe ".
So, I'm supposing over the weekend or Monday after we've all spent tons of gil on cookies to get Pumpkin heads n Bat staves, the Event Moogles will appear. Again - just my guess :)

PS.( SE wants to cut back the amount of gil that ppl have in game in the hopes of fixing the economy - I.E. 8+ Mil for a Hauby is unrealistic for most ppl to pay. )
