This is for discussion and info about most of the battle-related changes in the July 19 patch, especially:

  • Players are now able to earn experience from monsters of a wider level range than previously possible. Experience points earned by defeating “decent challenge” and “easy prey” monsters will also increase in some instances. -- What changes are seen here?

  • The player’s enmity now decreases when a shadow image created by Utsusemi is absorbed by an attack. -- How much of a difference is this, really?

Most other information mentioned in the Battle-Related section of the notes can be discussed here. There are topics specifically for two areas, however: Mob Changes/Moves, and Ranged Attack Changes. There are other stickied topics for discussions on other parts of the new patch as well, including one for New NM/BCNM, and a Main July 19 Patch Discussion. Please use the appropriate topic when posting info.

Testing this as War/Nin. I use Cache-nez (Enmity + 2) and off and on Dorado Sushi (Enmity + 3) or Squid Sushi.

I think the hate lost from Utsusemi is a percentile loss. As in it decreases the amount of hate you have by a percent. Meaning that if you Provoked right away then lost shadows, you'd lose all that hate quickly. I say this because I would not provoke first after pull. I would Ranged Attack to get hate for a second, then the Monster (mandra) would miss miss, and then I'd start casting Utsu. (The starting of casting Utsusemi seemed to pull hate a few times.) Note that I might lose hate after the first two shadow losses, but only to another DD or the Puller. After Utsu was done, I would get hate back. Let the shadows go away, then finally Provoke. I had no hate problems for the rest of the fight.

In situations where I started w/ Provoke, I would instantly lose all my Voked hate and have no method for keeping it.
