If the Thread Leeches in Dunes actually drop the Ruby (which I've never seen in the years I've played), then the drop rate is probably so low that it's really not worth going there for. (Recently spent 6 hours hunting in Dunes on this with TH3 and full moon since I was hanging out with a friend in Dunes who didn't have the ruby. No drops. Got it the first kill when we moved to Shakhrami.) There are better places to farm: Bubu, Shakhrami, and Qufim for low levels.^^

The Thread Leeches in Valkrum dunes also drop the Carbuncle's Ruby.
