exactly how do i trade this "gift for the kiddies" to a kiddie? do i buy fireworks and give them that? cause all the kids i talk to (and i am wearing a dream hat) only give me the basic NPC response - i talked to the taru at the gate and he just gave me another present - so now i have two i don't know what to do with ><
how can SE have an event with no guide :'( i'm so lost

You just need to target a child and trade the item to them like you would with any other trade (target NPC, open menu, choose trade, put item in trade window, select ok). I never tried trading fireworks since the presents you get from the smilebringers are free, but other comments seem to indicate that they work as well.

Also, make sure you are targeting a child.^^ I've come across at least one person who was having a hard time distinguishing between the Tarutaru adults and children.

The gifts the NPC gives you you can trade to children NPCs around town to raise your joy fame. You can also trade the children fireworks to gain joy fame. The NPC will give you 1 gift per ingame day, I'm not sure what the max fame message is, or how exactly this relates to get a hat +1 but I'm pretty sure it does. My current joy fame message from him is "All the children love you, even I think you're great!"

BTW if its like last year if you take the free transportation from the NPC it lowers your joy fame. My guess is once you have enough joy fame this NPC will give you a hat +1 rather then a gift for the kids.

Great guides so far, I hope someone figures out how to get those new wands:)

Just a little note, you only use 1 card for the moogle event, no need to get more. Talk to moogle for 1 card, then trade it about and get it back like previously mentioned. For the robe +1, i got some chocopasses when 1 person wasnt wearing the event robe, and got robe +1 when i did it again, but with all people in red robe.

Smilebringer gives out 1 kiddie present a day by talking to them. This is like a mega gift, that instantly boosts holiday fame by 1. useful just after using the teleport to find people for robe event.

Just waiting for dream hat +1 to arrive now, i have all 3 trees from last year, so hopefully it'll come soon :)

I got a Dream Hat +1 from my moogle. Not entirely sure how I got it but this is my theory.

- Put a Christmas Tree in your MH
- Play the Joybringer game til you have maxed it out
(The christmas npc says something along the lines of "The children love you. And so do I")
- Go to your MH and talk to your moogle. He will give you a special present he found under your christmas tree.
- Go outside and use the present. Will look like normal fireworks but check your inventory for the Dream Hat +1

I am guessing this is the way to get it. But Im not sure if I got it because of the Joybringer game. Maybe you only need to put a tree in your MH and wait.

Leave a reply if this worked for anyone ^_^

I can verify this, I traded ~13 Air Riders to children then one or two smaller fireworks, went into my mog house and was given the special present by my moogle (already had a tree).
And as for finding kiddies in Windhurst, the port is a good spot (going from mog house to Waters zone point):
Mithra child in the tunnel
2 human children by the tunnel, before the bridge.
Tantaru child outside the spell shop.
Another in the shop, the shopkeep on the right.
Same again in the weapon shop if I'm not mistaken.
The Onion Brigade are all kids.

Anyone know if the dream hat +1 recharges somehow as it only have the one charge yet it has a recast delay.

No source, but it seems obvious that the wands and chocolates were put in for this year's valentine event...

Just my 2 cents...

Just recieved my Dream Hat +1 today from under my tree. Great guide for that guys. However I am still a little confused on how to obtain the Dream Coat +1. I read your guides and it got confusing. Some poeple in the game claim they found a better way too. Could someone clarify this with possibly an example with player names and such.(Bob gave his card to Billy..)

Got hat today. Moogle found it under widurstian tree (im from sandy if that helps). He gave me a 'special present' and when i opened it outside mh, a firework like the goblin glider appeared. it was a mine goblin dressed as santa on a sleigh and it slowwly swooped down. i then checked inventory and found hat :). i got max fame message, where man and kids love you, and i also used teleport, and got fame up again in bastok if that helps anyone. a long wait though, but worth it :)

now all we need to do is work out how to get the wands. maybe it will appear next week, just like how there were 2 events in summerfest or something...

I put together this guide based on what I heard and my own personal verification. This has been proven to work multiple times on my server, so here you go:

Step 1: Speak to the moogle to recieve a card.
Step 2: Trade the card to the person matching the job and level range the moogle specified.
Step 3: They trade the card to the moogle and then back to you. If they have a dream robe already, make sure they take it off before trading to the moogle.
Step 4: Talk to the moogle to find out who to trade your card to next.
Step 5: Repeat steps 2-4 until the moogle names a job and level range you have.
Step 6: Trade your card to the moogle to obtain your shiny new robe.
Step 7: Equip said robe.
Step 8: Motion joyfully and dance happily.
Step 9: Repeat steps 1-6, this time trading only to people with at least the NQ robe, to obtain your HQ robe.
Step 10: Repeat steps 7 and 8.

And there you have it! Best of luck to everyone.

A lot of people seem to be having difficulties with this event.. So I'll post the correct solution (Hey, it worked for my girlfriend and myself on the first try.)

1)To start out, talk to the event moogle who gives the christmas cards to recieve one, locations already stated in this forum I believe. It will have a job title and a level range.

2) Find a player character of the job and level and trade the card to that person. THIS is the important part. That player then trades the card to the moogle.. Then trades the NEW card that they recieve BACK to you. If you do not recieve a new card back, I believe you will have to start over.

3) The new card will have another job/level range for you to find. Once again, when you find the correct job/leveled character, you must get them to trade the card to the moogle, than give you the new card.

4) At the fourth trade, the NEW card that you recieve back will automatically be your job/level range. Convenient, huh? Trade this to the moogle yourself to earn yourself a shiny new Dream Robe.

(Side note)

As proof of this, note how normally you can ONLY trade a card of a certain job/level range to the correct job/leveled person.. Yet when a person trades you a new card back from the moogle, it can still go to you even if you are not what the card describes.

Dream Robe + 1

So, now you have that nice Dream Robe.. Things are still quite easy to get the Dream Robe + 1! (You just have to find intelligent people that don't run off without giving you the card back.. x.x)

1) Talk to the moogle once more to recieve a new card. Note that he mentions it is for "someone in red" before giving you yet another job/level range to find. Find the correct kind of player character WITH a Dream Robe equipped, trade the card to him, and then have him trade the card to the moogle.

2) That character will recieve a new card, and MUST trade it back to you.

3) On the third trade of this nature, you will again recieve a card that is of your job/level range. Again.. Very convenient. Trade it to the moogle and.. Tada! A Dream Robe + 1! Merry Christmas for SE, thanks for the headache.

(Side-Side note) Remember that to get the dream robe + 1 you must be wearing the dream robe.. and you must trade the cards to people also wearing the dream robes. Also note that it IS possible this year to get a Dream Hat + 1, regardless of what some people say. =^-^= Merry Christmas!

Got the Dream Robe +1, as others have said you simply repeat the process for the Dream Robe except doing so while wearing the Dream Robe and only trading to people wearing Dream Robes themselves.
Seem to be a lot of people who aren't completing the chain themselves on the server I'm on, they're seeking cards, not the players they need to complete their own cards.
Also, just curious if the job pattern in terms of the levels required (not the job types) for the Dream Robe Vs. the Dream Robe +1 quests repeated for others. For me both times it was 20s, 10s, 70s, then level and job matching my main job.

every time I did it it was 20,60,30, so it's possible there is a pattern or patterns based on initial job and level

P.S. having to do it 3 times, because the 3rd person steals your card, sucks. thanks for the headache SE, you gave greedy people a chance to stab everyone around them. I had to resort to bribing my LS just so I knew I'd get my card back.

This is how I did it and it works.

Well its all been figured out now and this is how to do it.

To get your Dream Robe you need to do this:

1. Talk to event moogle to get your card and trade it to some one in that job and lvl tange.
2. get that persion to trade the card to moogle and get him to trade the new card given back to you.
3. Repeat number 2 till you get a card for your job and lvl. (this will be the 4th card)
4. trade this your self to the event moogle for your dream robe.

To get hold of the Dream robe +1 you need to get hold of a card from the event moogle were he says this persion is wering red just like you.
Make sure you are wereing the dream robe to get this card (might need to travil to another city)
And just repeat it the same way as for the dream robe, but you must make sure that the ppl you trade it to have also got the dream robe on.

Now The dream hat +1
You need to buy a dream hat from the event moogle at 10k gil and a holiday tree from the nation that is yours.
Were the hat and put the tree in your mog hose so you can see it there.
Now go and find the smile bringer and you will get a pressent.
Trade this to any NPC child and repeat this every game day.
Keep coming back to your mog and keep checking to see if you got your presenet.
You need to me in your own nation to get the pressent.
If this works you will get told by your moogle that here is a present for you under this tree.
Take this present out side use it, and the firework will go off, now check your items again to see you have the dream hat +1.

Please note to be able to trade the presents to the Child NPC you need to be wereing the dream robe and the dream hat.

Like others here I'll post the exact 100% proven method for the NQ and HQ Robe.

*Situation*
You are just starting this event and want the prizes. Find your local Moogle that isn't selling Trees/DreamHat/FireWorks and follow the steps below.

1.) Talk to the Moogle on a new day and recieve a card by confirming to start a new quest. You will always recieve the same exact card when starting the quest over on a new day. You'll be required to find ***(job) or ***(lvl)

2.) Find someone who has the required job and lvl and give them the card. They will turn the card in and recieve various fireworks(depening on nation) and another card. Ask for the card they recieved in return back.

3.) Find the next job and lvl required by your second card in the series. The required person will turn it in and recieve fireworks again and yet another card. Ask for the card they recieved back.

4.) Find the next job and lvl required by your third card in the series. The required person will turn it in and recieve fireworks and yet another card. Ask for the card they recieved back.

5.) Find the next job and lvl required by your fourth card in the series. The required person will turn it in and recieve fireworks and the final card. Ask for this card back.

6.) This card recieved will have the lvl and job requirement of the job you currently had set as when you started the quest in step #1. Turn this card in yourself and you are quarenteed 100% for a NQ Robe.

*Situation*
Now that you have your Dream Robe you are required to do the process all over again, but only interacting with other players wearing Dream Robes.

Steps 7-12 Are the exact same as steps 1-6 except that the required ***(job) and ***(lvl) must also be a player wearing a Dream Robe. Upon recieveing the 5th card in the "Robed" quest series and turning it in on step 12 you will have a Dream Robe+1 guarenteed.

*Note* I used this method for my NQ and HQ robes, I gave away 8Cards, Turned in 2Cards and I have both my robes. I have talked to others who used this method and it is absolutely flawless. The only problem that can arise using this method is that someone is greedy and won't trade the card they recieved with the fireworks back to you. I discussed this method with 9 others who on my server and it also worked for them.
If this method is true it also explains why people who just shout off their job lvls and grab up all cards they can turn in are recieving hundreds of fireworks and not Robes. The Moogle tells you when starting the "Event Quest" that 4 cards must be delivered and this method plays into the moogles instructions. You need to participate and give away gifts to other players to recieve your just rewards, this is a holiday event. The Robe prizes are not random at all, you just need to innitiate your own quest and hope that no one drops your cards in the process ending your quest and forcing you to start again. This event forces participation and excludes Leeches, Beginners, Mules. As long as a player has one lvl 10+ job and use that to start the quest in steps #1 and #6 they too can get both Robes.

Just some extra bits to Mirriam's walkthrough:

The cards are never addressed to a specific level, Square Enix are not that evil, it's always a band of levels, 10's, 20's, 30's, etc...

You will receive either Brilliant Snow, or a Dream Robe.

I've recieved numerous Popstars, wasn't lucky enough to get any Brilliant Snow... :( Considering Mirriam's details on the outpost Teleporter this is probably due to all my trades being based in Windhurst.

It appears to be random how you get your Dream Robe.

If you get each person you trade the card to to trade it back to you after they traded it to the moogle (much easier and more reliable than hoping someone will trade you a card with the first 3 trades completed) it will always be the fourth trade to the moogle gives a Dream Robe, same applies for the Dream Robe +1, as such after the third successful trade to the moogle it will be addressed to a job and level range matching one of yours.
The moogle even says that there are 4 cards to be given out.

Mirriam also doesn't mention that the Smilebringers will teleport you to either Windhurst, Bastok or Sandoria (you choose) as long as you've brought some joy to the children. VERY USEFUL for completing the card trading chain if you can't source a local character to trade the card to, especially with the abundance of fireworks due to moogle presents to players!
