whoa whoa whoa

frustration ?? This quest is hella easy if you have grade one problem solving skills. Let me copy/paste my info from another msg board:

Start quest
Pick your item (see below for reward)
Talk to the following NPC's for hints on what order to hit the switches: Striking Snake, Helmut, Folzen, Durha, Hungry Wolf.
Get a pencil and paper, and attempt to use your brain for once in your misterable lives.
Decipher the order.
Examine the switches (locations below) and get ready to deal with Galkas(THEY STUPID LOL):
If the galka wants a drink, send the taru.
If the galka wants thieves, send Luto.

Rewards:
Scope -> Silent Oil
Bard's Harp -> Prism Powder
Snare -> Hi-Ether
Lead Guardsman's ID -> Hi-Potion
Lucky Charm -> Key Ring Belt
Pocket Watch -> Hermes Quencher

Switches:
The small switch is in the Cermet Refinery.
Tthe medium switch is near the entrance.
The large switch is next to the Blacksmithing Guild.

I've done this twice on 2 accts (Key Ring for mine, and Hermes Quencher on the other acct for attestation purposes). Not once have I gotten "BS hints" or "Misleading information", nor has any of my colleagues gotten caught.

Well, I finished the bait and switch quest after three hours of running around, and getting caught. I used the Lucky Charm, did not have any of my character caught the attempt i completed it (had to restart due to being caught 3 times) and I refused to go to the switch that the lead guard was at. The five people who give clues are Hungry Wolf, Helmet, Striking Snake, Darha, and Folzen. Hungry Wolf is in the eatery on the second floor, with Ferghus (who tells you of the thief being captured, initiating Folzen finding the key), and Striking Snake is in the Cannon Room. With the Lucky Charm, never using it, and correctly selecting Luto for the time the guard says "Thief" and Miledo for the time the guard says "Drink", I was able to push through and get the Key Ring Belt. So, choose the charm, don't get caught, and feel free to mess up the order as much as necessary to not get caught. When you press a switch, it will indicate if it is the right switch by saying "The (First) switch has been deactivated" with first actually being whichever switch you are on. I have had to press the switches 8 times both times I did this (although I did not complete it the first time).

Today, I will attempt with the ???, and I will post what happens tomorrow.

Quest Name: Lure of the Wildcat (All Nations)
Clients: Ajithaam (Artisan Bridge; Upper Jeuno), Amutiyaal (Lion Square, Southern San d'Oria); Ibwam (Bomingo Round, Windurst Woods); Alib-Mufalib (Beligen Square, Port Bastok)

The quest starters will give you a "Sentinel badge" key item with the colour of the city you start the quest in (white for Jeuno, red for San d'Oria, green for Windurst, blue for Bastok). These cards describe coordinates in the districts of the corresponding city. You must talk to certain NPCs at those coordinates; there are five in every district. A message will be displayed when you talk to the right NPC: "XXXX's badge flashes brightly.", and the conversation topic will be the Near East. After talking to all NPCs you can return the Sentinel badge to the quest starter to receive a key item invitation card of the same colour. "When you join our company, you will learn of its use. That will be something to look forward to..." was the last line of the NPC in Jeuno.
