just completed this quest.
After talking to Stray Cloud, exit Norg then re-enter for a Cut-sceen. It explains that Gubokka, the galka you are asked to find, was saved by another. You are then asked to find the one that saved him. Leave Norg and head for a ??? around K-6 of the first map. This will spawn a NM Sea Monk named Glyryvilu. Do not know the level, but was a near win for 75 DRK after using Blood Weapon. He uses all the normal Sea Monk abilities and nothing else. After defeating the NM, check the ??? again for another Cut-sceen then head back to Stray Cloud for your reward: Light Buckler, level 40 Def. 6 Shield skill+5 WAR/WHM/RDM/THF/PLD/BST/SAM

This thing destroyed me as 74 thf/nin. With blink up (which wasn't a problem to keep up) it cross attacked me for 811 and then again for 641, killing me. Not sure what i could've done differently. Maybe it's all blind luck.

the NM was very easy as mnk75/nin, it attacked slowly and missed often, even with cross attack, and the aoe move he did hit me for 21 and 28 damage only, although it did remove shadows, but i recasted each time without any problem. I finished with more or less full hp. It has about 5800 HP, and my asuran fist usually hit for 1000+ each time. Short and simple quest.

I solo'd him easily as a 75PLD/RDM. His cross slash is the only hard part, and he uses it liberally at the end of the fight.
Remember that it takes 2 shadows and any /NIN should be okay doing this.
Just in case you may want to bring a pt, as it was mildly drining on my MP even using spirit taker, because he got to do about... 6-7 cross slashes, doing an average of 400 each... Good luck. Oh, and barwatera for maelstrom

An Undying Pledge
1. Speak with Stray Cloud in Norg to start. He will ask you to find his friend Gubokka somewhere in Sea Serpent Grotto.
2. Head towards Sea Serpent Grotto. Before you zone you will receive a cutscene.
3. Zone and head for (K-6).
4. Click on the ??? and an NM will appear. It's name is Glyryvilu and is a kraken type. You can sneak yourself before popping if you have some last second buffs you would like to cast. It spams Cross Attack often which did between 300-800 dmg to me depending on how fresh my stoneskin was. Soloable by a 75WHM but better to have a PLD or NIN tank.
5. After the battle, click on the ??? again to receive a cutscene.
6. Go back to Norg and talk with Stray Cloud to see another cutscene and receive your reward.
Reward:
Light Buckler
All Races
Def: 6 Shield skill +5
LV. 40 WAR/WHM/RDM/THF/PLD/BST/SAM
Comments:
Solo'd as 64 NIN/WAR.
