Game Details for An Undying Pledge

Client: Stray Cloud (Quay, Norg)

Summary: Find Stray Cloud's friend Gubokka in the Sea Serpent Grotto.

Walkthrough for An Undying Pledge

Talk to Stray Cloud in Norg for a cut-scene to start the quest.
Head towards Sea Serpent Grotto; before you zone you will receive a cutscene.
Enter Sea Serpent Grotto and go to K-6, to the ??? in the open room.
Click on the ??? and an NM will appear, a Sea Monk by the name of Glyryvilu. You can sneak yourself before spawning it, if you have some last second buffs you would like to cast. The main damage from it is the Cross Attack special that it does often, which can do between 300-800 damage; it can be debuffed, although they don't stick for very long.
After the battle, click on the ??? again to receive a cut-scene and the Caliginous Blade key item.
Return to Norg and talk with Stray Cloud for cut-scene that completes the quest, and provides your shield reward.

Recommended Level for An Undying Pledge

The single fight in this quest can prove to be difficult, mainly because of the Cross Attack special that the Glyryvilu can do. A Ninja or Summoner can solo this at level 65; Cross Attack takes two shadows, and if it is not an issue the fight is fairly simple. If there isn't a Ninja job or subjob tanking, this can be done with two characters around level 70; the NM has around 6000HP.

Easily solo by level 70 rdm/nin lost 8 hp total in battle. Just keep shadows up and paralyze... either spell or Ice Spikes. Buff with Enblizzard and Haste, Protect, Shell and Stoneskin. Should be listed as Easy Prey.

His cross attack can do up to 988dmg...it just happened to me

I could start this quest at level 4 Tenshodo fame
