Quote from: Cuer A few speculative thoughts on the timing of this, based on the little bit that we know so far: Coincidentally, today is exactly one year after Chains of Promathia was released in Japan; it showed up in North America 5 days later. The official info on Chains of Promathia came out at the end of April, and that expansion pack was released roughly 6 months later. If the same holds true here, we can expect the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion to come out in March 2006. This would make sense, given that the X360 FFXI will probably be fully live across the world around the beginning of 2006, and they'll want a couple of months after that before unloading a new expansion pack. Further speculation: assuming that time-table holds, we're most likely 3 major patches away from the next expansion. We know about the one in early October, which will probably have the items to set up some sort of fall event. Unless they're really planning ahead, they'll need another game patch sometime in December, with items and such for the Christmas/New Year's event(s), and to add whatever is necessary to make the X360 version work with everything else. (We'll no doubt see a flurry of "fixing" patches whenever the X360 FFXI is going into beta and then live, as the accomodate the new console.) After that, we're likely to see a very major patch put in a few weeks before the expansion is released, just as we did with Chains of Promathia, to add the new items and some new features into the basic client. We know that there will be some changes on the back-end around the beginning of the year, as well, to areas such as billing; this will allow implementation of moving individual characters between servers, and maybe other unannounced additions. Of course, this is all entirely speculation. One thing is certain: get your Promathia missions done now, or risk being overwhelmed by the flood of content down the road! :)
