As a mnk, I dont really pay attention to DPS. There are too many other factors. For example, the extra damage your weapons do are not factored into the DPS. Additionally, I tend to like to use weapons with Acc and attribute enhancements, and I like using weapons with extra features. For example, I love my Shiva's claws. They only proc about 10% of the time on ITs, and stick even less often, but when I am farming or just goofing off, they proc much more frequently and stick very well on anything EM or below.
