This will be an update of a number of files. As mentioned, none of them will actually be live yet; updates like this are pre-downloaded, but only unpacked with the full update (in this case, on April 18.)

Does this mean the Expansion will be in stores Apr. 18? Or simply that its shipped Apr. 18 and they'll sell it sometime later?

I reserved a copy at Game Stop. He said it ships on the 18th and they'll have it available on the 19th. That's some fast shipping!

Both the expansion and the Xbox 360 FFXI are being released on the 18th in the U.S., and the 20th worldwide. See the Amazon.co.uk info for orders in the UK.

Ubisoft is handling the publishing of the expansion and Xbox 360 FFXI in Europe and all other PAL territories.

Won't be difficult at all just add a new member on the 360 screen and input your login name and password.
That is all

You don't need to use your content ID. You need your login ID. On the login screen, your login ID is listed above your member name. It's something like ABCD1234, four letters and four numbers.

The update is out, it was primarily just new graphics files. It doesn't have any new items and such, so we'll have to wait for the real update (presumably on the 17-18th) for the goodies.

The official site should have some info on how to go about playing characters on the Xbox 360 version, that were intitially started on PC or PS2 versions of FFXI. You will be able to play them across all three, that has been announced previously.

One thing that doesn't transfer, though, are the localized versions of the game. If you have a North American FFXI installed, you'll no doubt need a North American expansion pack to install on top of it. The same goes for anyone running the Japanese version of the game; they will need the Japanese expansion pack to upgrade it.
