I read (or misread) on xbox360 site that you cannot transfer characters(crossplatform) from ps2 or computer to the 360 but only transfer from beta 360 to regular ffxi.
I'm pretty sure you have to start new.

Once the 360 version goes live just like the PC and PS2 versions as long as you have an active account you can login to ANY version of the game with your ID and password and play your characters. The platform that the characters were created on doesn't matter. None of the character information is kept on the system it's on the SE servers. Only macros, map notes, screenshots and stuff like that are on the system that you started playing on. The only reason you can't get to the 360 account from a PC or PS2 is because it's still in beta now.

I do believe you are mistaken. Yes, you can transfer your characters from the beta servers over to the pre-existing servers. However, you are transferring over to the same worlds that everyone else (Playstation 2 and PC users) are already on. When the Playstation 2 version was released, players that wished to switch over from the PC were able to use their Playonline logins to access their characters on either platform. I can't imagine it's any different now than it was then.

I asked the tech support at Playonline about this issue. You can login into any version of the client software using your playonline information. For example, my friend has a PAL version of the game and I have an NTSC version. However, I can still login on his software. The same will apply for the 360 version. You will be able to use an existing account.

However, if you play on the pc, you will need to obtain a pc version of ToAU and register that to your handle before you can play using the 360 version. (Basically you cant mix and match registration codes: a pc handle cant accept registration from a 360 version of ToAU)

Hope that helps!

Yah you misread and are totally incorrect.

Platform has nothing to do with it. It's all based on your registration keys and they need to match up per region, not per platform.
If you play on PC at home, you can go to your friends house (who uses PS2) and log in there. Same will be the case for the Xbox 360 verison.

As Cuer said the regions need to match up, not the platform.
