Ok, dumb question for all you techno-saavy folks out there, but does this mean that the completely FULL version of FF11 will be available in the magazine? I want to be able to play with my BF on PS2 and me on the XBOX360 (reason we're thinking of buying the damn thing). My computer is crap so I've been playing on the PS2. So, is this the real deal? The ENTIRE game, or just a demo?

It is the full version of the game, including both expansion to date. However, this is a beta, which means it is limited to play on the beta servers that they are setting up. Anyone playing on the Xbox 360 FFXI from this free beta will only be playing test characters, on test servers; there will be no way to play alongside someone who is on the PS2 or PC.

Once the free beta/test time is over, you will be able to purchase the full game and play on the regular servers. The official release date for the X360 FFXI hasn't been published yet, but it seems to be trending towards March-May of this year.

Do we know yet when FFXI comes out on the Xbox 360 if...we have to pay for both Xbox live and FFXI or just FFXI?

Per the previous interviews with S-E producers, the Gold (paying) version of Xbox Live will be not be required to use the Xbox 360 FFXI. The game still uses PlayOnline, even when installed on the Xbox 360, so any services provided by Xbox Live are entirely extra when it comes to using FFXI.

Just read in a magazine that FFXI for 360 is supposed to hit in Spring of 2006. (Game Informer,Jan 2006;pg 128) No clue if ToAU is going to be released with it. Yeah I know Spring is vague, but at least it's something. Take into account the Festival taking place in March with playable ToAU, we could be seeing FFXI for 360 at the same time.

You do not have to pay a monthly fee for the XBOX Live Silver which comes free with the XBOX 360. So, I am assuming that you will only be required to pay your regular FFXI monthly only.

i heard from a friend who works a game stop that the xbox 360 version will be on a xbox server only, and you will be able to only play with other ppl on the xbox and no the PS2 or PC.. andony heard anything like this?

1) As mentioned, the Xbox Live Silver is free, so there is no requirement to pay for it, just to play FFXI. There will only be the monthly FFXI fee.

2) During the beta period, which is what the free DVD allows access into, everyone playing the X360 FFXI will be playing on a test server. That server will only have other X360 FFXI players; there will not be access from the PC or PS2 players to the server. However, once the game is actually released on the Xbox 360, the beta servers will be closed, and everyone will play on the regular servers. FFXI is based around the concept of everyone (regardless of location or machine that the client is on) playing on the same servers, and Square-Enix has stated that they will continue that with the Xbox 360 players as well.

3) It is looking more and more like the final public release of FFXI on the Xbox 360 is going to happen right around the same time that the new expansion comes out (sometime between March-May). It hasn't been stated yet how that will all play out, whether or not the X360 FFXI will come with the new expansion bundled... it would be difficult to roll out both the public X360 FFXI and a new expansion at the same time, but who knows.

I expect that the expansion pack will be bundled with the XBox 360 version as they have done in the past with the NA release being bundled in with Zilart and the EU release being bundled in with CoP. Following this history, I think we can expect the same to happen with the XBox release.

However, we have a release date in stores for the 360 version of FFXI... it's some time in May (Subject to change, it was originally listed as a launch title for the 360). There is still no information regarding TaU in stores.

I work for EBGames, and check the Coming Soon list daily for the opportunity to pre-order TaU... we still can't even take pre-orders on TaU, and we usually get preorders started at least 6 months ahead.

This, along with a few comments that the development team has made in the past, leads me to believe that the xbox 360 version will NOT be packaged with TaU

Square-Enix have already announced that TaU will be released sometime AFTER the XBOX version is released. This means the XBOX version will NOT be bundled with the new expansion.

The official Xbox 360 signup is now available for the North American and European beta. Anyone with an Xbox 360 and the beta disc mentioned above should be able to get in.

The official FFXI website now has the following details about the beta, as listed in the news:

Today marks the opening of the North American Xbox 360 beta! The free beta comes packaged inside the February issue of Official Xbox Magazine which hits stands on January 17th. Once you've gotten hold of the game, head over to the registration website to obtain the codes to activate your account. Does anyone know if we will be able to transfer characters from a PS2 SE account to an XBOX 360 SE account? I would love to be able to play this game with the power of an XBOX 360, but I won't even consider it if I have to spend another year and a half getting to where I am now. Please advise.

There will be NO so called FFXI server for xbox 360. SE has mentioned in an interview.

I wonder if, after the Beta ends, there will be a server migration. There was one held a few weeks after FFXI Hit the PS2, so I think it would be a fairly accurate to say that when the beta is over, give or take a few weeks, there will be another migration.

I bought the FFXI game and i have an account that i play on. I switch my account between a PS2 and Computer and i was wondering when the actual FFXI game is released for the XBOX 360 am i going to be able to just play on there or am i going to have to buy a brand new version of FFXI for the 360, and just switch my account onto it?
