FFXI and PlayOnline Login Difficulties

Massive server problems are showing up, both in PlayOnline and the game servers. The announcements listed below can be seen in the PlayOnline FFXI News section, where official announcements are always posted. (As of this posting, the PlayOnline web servers are overloaded as well; it appears whatever the problem is, it's affecting all of their servers.)
