ok after finishing COP and seeing the finaly CS's my friends and i have come up with a theory. (Waring Spoiler for anyone who hasn't finished COP)

In Tenzen's finaly CS he talks about going back to his homeland. he says (insert name here) you should come and visit my homeland sometime. then cid talks about that tenzen will go to norg and the norg pirates will get him back home to the far east. Now this opens up the next part to go to Tenzen's home... AKA. "Treasures of Aht Urhgan". we think thats the ship that goes to nowhere in norg will be the way to the far east for the next expansion as well as the stairs in the tenshedo in lower jeuno has a stairs leading down that could lead to a boat or a airship.

It would really be a bit disappointing if blue mage will be the only new job available ;; so now that you mention norg pirates, maybe there will be pirates included. and call me crazy but i think i saw a piraty looking ship in the video :O

What I think they might do with BLU is that they might have one specific place (or specific places) for a BLU to learn abilities. After you level up you would have to go back to this place and have mobs try to hit you so you could try to learn a new ability. Kind of like a training grounds for BLU and it would probably be a instanced area just for your character. I dunno just an idea...

I doubt we'll ever see pirates. I mean, what really is a pirate?

N.- One who robs at sea or plunders the land from the sea without commission from a sovereign nation.

So what, would you only be allowed in Norg and maybe a bit of Jueno as with the Far East and whatnot. Plus, a pirate at land isn't anything more then a thief, and THF is already a job. Pirate, at least in my book, is nothing like the jobs in FFXI. A WHM or BRD on a Pirate ship is a pirate, and it's as simple as that. Faris in FFV was a Pirate, and yet she could be any job she pleased. Would a city like San d'Oria really let a pirate into their city? I mean, THFs steal from monsters and whatnot, therefore doing a service. Pirates generally only attack man-made ships, not exactly in the spirit of Vana'diel.

I won't say it isn't an option though. I just can't see PIR (or whatever acronym you make) as a job. Being able to join the Tenshodo/Norg Pirates on one of their cruises would most likely be the closest you can get to being a pirate. That seems likely enough.

It's already pretty well known that FFXI will not be released on PS3. Sony doesn't want any part of it on their new system.

So what about us on the PS2 who want to keep playing? Are we going to be forced to switch to the PC or Xbox360? Or will SE keep releasing expansions exclusively for the PS2, but not the PS3? If Sony stops supporting FFXI, I will never purchase another Sony product again for the rest of my life.

There's never been any announcement stating one way or the other whether or not FFXI will be coming to the PS3. I would imagine that S-E would want to get it on there, assuming the hard drive will be properly supported this time, for the same reasons they want to get people on the X360 version. For now, though, the focus is on the Xbox 360, so that's all they'll be talking about for the next few months, at least.

If it is Blue Mage....

FINALLY A "FIGHTING DD MAGE JOB!!!"

Sure RDM can use swords but its too lacking in Dex/Str to be considered much of a DD no matter what the subjob...(excluding /nin for solo at high levels).

But from what i've seen from the Screenshots it looks like a melee job. I mean won't u need TP to do those firebreath attacks and such?

Hmmm.... I wonder what that combo would be like?

RDM/BLU ???

BLU/RDM ???

lol. i posted this on allakhazam awhile back but i feel like posting it here too.

Imagine if the BLU ended up being like Quina in FF9. You "eat" your foes to learn a move and your 2-hour ability will be "cook". You get job abilities like "tenderize". And your main weapon is a fork or a spoon.. or maybe even a SPORK!! Then you might be able to dual wield if you went BLU/NIN and hold a Spork and a knife. Then the Chef's Hat and Culinarian's apron gained hidden abilities like "enhances eat".

lol. sorry had to post this cause I found it very funny when i heard BLU was coming, and I immediately thought of Quina. Gotta <3 the old FF's. ^^

I think blue mages will be able to "drain" a monsters ability while in a fight and use it durring that fight only . What I mean is that blue mages wont be able to learn the abilities permanently cause thenit would not be to balanced if they vould learn all the high end abilities/spells from NM's , and use them freely.. I think its going to work this way :

A fight starts , a blue mage is able to cast some sort of spell that will drain the mobs spells and use them agains that mob only or durring that fight only (I mean that untill the fight lasts he will be able to use that spell in case links appear) , after the battle the blue mage will lose the ability to cast that spell . And so on..

I think they would be able to keep the ability, but they must use MP to use the ability. That way when they do get the high lvl abilities, they cant spam them unless they somehow become a powerhouse like a RDM can be with refresh and convert.

If you knew anything about Blue Mages from old FF games you would know that you keep the abilitys. The magic of a blue mage is that they can learn those high end abilitys but have to be able to attain them first. Blue mages get a rediculous amount of spells, or abilitys, and can use them as they see fit. The way of attaining these spells or abilities will either be by 1. eating your enemy like in FFIX, your enemy has to be withen a certain level range or you will fail the "Eating" of it. or 2. you have to be hit by and survive the abilty in order to have the chance of learning it. personaly i think it will be the second way, since "Eating" it wouldnt follow the traditional FFXI ways, although who knows. but if it is the second way that means Blue mage will have a greater def than most mages (to be able to survive the attack mutlple times if needed) and also be fairly decent at melee. if they were only allowed to drain the monsters ability for a short time that would leave to a very boring job "Yay i get to use Healing Breeze or Bomb toss for 3 weeks while i level thru bibiki bay" see what im saying :/ besides that doesnt follow the standards of any FF to date.

I also agree that Blue Mage would be able to keep spells. It would just be dumb if it was just for 1 battle. What I think will happen is perhaps a BLU will get an option to cast a spell that, in the event a mob uses an ability, the BLU will get a RARE chance that he/she will learn that ability (this is what we've seen before, and I think they'll keep to this formula). No forks, no knives =/(or sporks). I also think that what will happen, is that a mob will have to be the same level, or within 3 levels or so of the BLU in order to learn the ability. (but it should be really rare I think, it would add to the excitement)

"Qufim Island"
'Hey, grab that BLU, he says he has "Goblin Rush"! - hmmm, does that {Skillchain} with {Tachi:Enpi}?'

oh boy I cant wait for this! Sa-weet!

Well ya I get what you are trying to say but the only small problem that you do not see here is that FFXI is not like any othert FFXI out there .. its a mmorpg and ALOT of changes have to be bade to characters/abilities/spells etc in order for it to be playable . Its not so easy , they are not just going to take a blue mage from single player and throw him into multi cause that would never work .. Tell me this then , how do you want to prevent the blue mage to be able to use the deadliest spells that he aquires from the hardest NM's out there . Cause if they will be able to use them then this class will be ridiculous overpowered , imagine what will hapen when ppl realize that blue mages can use every spell/ability of any mob out there .. BLM will look like 4 year old girls compared to a fairly good blue mage.

Just to let you know, a BLU in every FF game I have played can only get 1 ability (maybe 2) from a certain type of mob. Meaning that he can learn bomb toss from a lvl 5 goblin, or a lvl 65 goblin. And they never learn EVERY ability or whatever. They are given one. Like you might not ever be able to use bomb toss, but it lets you use goblin rush. There not gonna be like a supreme powerhouse.

Although I think they might make BLU a walking path. Like you get to choose what move you can learn from your enemy and you can only use that move. Kind of like if you used your ability to learn a move, you get to choose which move you want to know throughout the game. You might be able to do a quest later to forget some moves in case you want to learn another, but maybe you choose the moves you want from each type of mob.

Those pictures are indeed lovely to see. This is the latest update to the news, with links to better versions of the pictures as well:

-----------------------------------------------------------

New Pictures of Treasures of Aht Urhgan Released! (September 30)

A few tidbits of new information was released regarding the upcoming expansion. An article on IGN has the basic info about the small information made available. Blue Mages have been officially announced, and are described: "Employing the legendary arts of Aht Urhgan, these formidable fighter-mages employ elegantly curved blades for close combat, while decimating their enemies from afar with fell magic mastered from their opponents."

Nine new pictures from the expansion were also released, and are in IGN article linked above. Very high-quality versions of the pictures without watermarks are available at 4gamer.net (auto-translated Japanese), for a clearer view of the pictures provided from Square-Enix.

When it all breaks down, what the game really needs is more tank classes. Sure, NIN PLD and (maybe) WAR. But thats only 1/5 of the jobs. They need to stop adding DD and stat adding some meat to the squadren.

Maybe... BLU stealing abilities... No, that would not end well >.<

I believe that the new blue mage job is a good step forward and that i agree that we also need more tank jobs. there aren't enough tanks!
