If the same holds true here, we can expect the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion to come out in March 2006. This would make sense, given that the X360 FFXI will probably be fully live across the world around the beginning of 2006, and they'll want a couple of months after that before unloading a new expansion pack.

from what i know that the PS3 is comin out around march 2006 maybe this being released becuase of the xbox 360 verion...or a bit after the ps3 verion is officaly brought out? IDK just sayin

Yeah, I think that most likely it would be timed with a PS3 launch (assuming there will be one... and I can't see why there wouldn't be). The other main possibility would be it launching with the XBOX360 version, but that is highly unlikely.

BTW: how the heck did the Allakhazam post show up before mine up at the top? When I submitted that info it was 30 minutes before that Alla thread even existed. Does the moderater radomly go through posts that were submitted and decide which ones to approve first or something? I'm pretty damn sure my info was submitted before the post about a thread that didn't even exist yet.

You can look at the timestamp on each message to see when it was posted; those don't change. The order that the messages show up is based entirely on when they were left, not when they were approved. As a rule, we approve messages whenever we see them, which means that quite often multiple messages are approved at once in the morning, when we check on everything. There were three other replies before yours, but they were all approved at once.

It's already pretty well known that FFXI will not be released on PS3. Sony doesn't want any part of it on their new system.

ok after finishing COP and seeing the finaly CS's my friends and i have come up with a theory. (Waring Spoiler for anyone who hasn't finished COP)

In Tenzen's finaly CS he talks about going back to his homeland. he says (insert name here) you should come and visit my homeland sometime. then cid talks about that tenzen will go to norg and the norg pirates will get him back home to the far east. Now this opens up the next part to go to Tenzen's home... AKA. "Treasures of Aht Urhgan". we think thats the ship that goes to nowhere in norg will be the way to the far east for the next expansion as well as the stairs in the tenshedo in lower jeuno has a stairs leading down that could lead to a boat or a airship.

More CoP spoilers below. Highlight to read.

Erren, I thought the same thing when I saw that cutscene, and it's not impossible for CoP and TAU to be related. After all, there are the paintings of Tu'Lia (which is of course, the Zilart end-game area) in the Sacrarium, down where the Promathia statue was. Of course, you have to understand that since players may not have played one expansion or the other, the stories rely on each other too much. For instance, in CoP they just mention that the former Duke of Jeuno is away for some reason, which is why the Armathrwn Society is in charge. Well, if you played Rise of the Zilart, it's because you kicked his butt. If not - he's just on a vacation or something! For that reason, I don't expect Tenzen to be an active part of Aht Urghan's storyline, but perhaps we'll learn about his homeland...

Also, I forgot to mention (highlight again):

There's no way that Norg will be the point of contact with the new areas. The reason for this is simple - if you have Treasures of Aht Urghan but not Rise of the Zilart (yeah, I know everyone has it now but just for the sake of argument) then you would have no access to Norg, and therefore be left out. That's why all the Zilart missions take place in Zilart areas... all the Promathia missions take place in CoP areas. Still, Aldo is the first person I'm talking to after I install Treasures of Aht Urghan.

Spoilers for anyone who hasn't finished COP (or isn't a geek that read the storyline already):

Does anyone else find it impossible for this [place] to not already be on the map? Tavnazia was a strip of land that connected the two continents? It's not possible for it to have been SO LONG that somewhere north or south of it was an unknown territory (island, mass of land, whatever) with such an impending force (enough to de????? ??? ?? J???o), and yet it ISN'T on our regional map. I dunno, it just doesn't seem likely to me. It would, in some regards, ruin the reality of Vana'diel for me. So where exactly do I think this place is? The acres of land northest of Li'Telor. Look at it. Target Li'Telor and look how the zones are positioned; they leave quite a bit of room up there. Enough room for an empire to be nicely placed near the shoreline, north of Boyahda Tree and east of Sanctuary of Zi'Tah. And it fits, as there is a dead-end tunnel east of Sanctuary of Zi'Tah (SAM Flag) and the Mandragora Wardens block off two paths on the northern most wall of the Boyahda Tree. Also, the new areas in the next expansion pack would fit perfect with the surrounding: what better than a swampland to be positioned in the midst of Li'Telor (Sanctuary of Zi'Tah/Boyahda Tree/Dragon's Aery).

End any possible spoilers.

I think this is best answered with a:
(WHO CARES!!!)

They are adding content, let them do it.... {Fun} {Do you need it?}
They want to create a whole new part of the world! Why must they attach it to boyada tree? Where is your sense of adventure!?
Dunno about you guys but I would fly to the moon on an airship if they would let me!...

oh and

There are 3 cut scenes with people @ the end of CoP that allude to the places S-E hinted about long time ago in the Vanadiel tribune. Non of this stuff is surprising, I dont see why everyone is so shocked >.>;

The following dialogue was taken from the Vanadiel tribune:
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/vt2/10/index.html

[The Far East]
Did you know that beyond the sea lies the Far East? Its unique culture is becoming popular among adventurers.

"The jobs 'samurai' and 'ninja' came from the Far East."
"'Bushido' and 'shinobi' and all that stuff are sooo cool! I want a boyfriend like that!"

"Maina, do you know anything else about the Far East?"
"Um, you mean like the Doll Festival and Feast of Swords?"
"Hm, you may be smarter than you look."
"Of course! I even know about Far Eastern food! Rice balls and sushi! Putting rice and other ingredients together was a great idea!"

"Well, you're just a wellspring of knowledge, aren't you?"

"Oh, and I bet you didn't know this! 'Far East' is actually a trendy word describing the direction they shave hair to make a topknot--It's totally 'Far East'!"

"What!?"

"People who live in the Far East all wear topknots! That's why everyone calls their country the "Far East." It's just the way their heads are shaved! Geesh, I thought everyone knew that."

It can't be real. Nobody can possibly be this stupid.

[The Wide World of Vana'diel]
So is it true that there are places other than the Far East that aren't on the map?

"In the south lies the Mithran homeland."
"I've been to Kazham before!"
"No, I am talking about a different place. There is a great nation even further south that the founders of Kazham came from."
"Reeeally!?"

"What's up north?"
"The Orcish Empire and the islands where the Gigas live."
"Orcs and Gigas seem sooo clueless! How can anyone be so dumb?"

"Also, there is the Gugru Blue that lies east of Mindartia, and beyond that lies a place called the 'Near East.' My special mirror is originally from there..."

"Hey, hey! I think I got it!"
"Got what?"
"This 'Far East' place! It's in the west, right!?"

(To Be Continued)

Let's be careful posting spoilers for the current storylines, especially those from CoP: the vast majority of players in the game haven't gotten through it all yet.

That said, there is some interesting speculation there. The "far east" idea for an expansion does seem to have been being planted for a while, as the excerpts mentioned from the Vana'diel Tribune point out. Given the architecture seen in the video and logo for the expansion, that seems a solid bet.

As an aside, almost every FFXI subscriber has Rise of the Zilart at this point. It has been included in every distribution of FFXI since before the North American release; the only accounts that could possibly not have it are some of the earliest Japanese subscribers who didn't buy it, for whatever reason. It's quite feasible that the next expansion will have ties into Zilart zones; as a rule, they do try to keep the expansions limited to the base areas plus that expansion's new areas, but it would be pretty safe for them to assume that everyone will be able to go to Zilart zones, as well.

After translating a host of Japanese pages on the recent interviews..the new job..

Horribly translated as...blue demon Taoist

It seems they are running a very early Beta version testing the new things out. I would be willing to bet they have a fair amount of ideas for this new job which is why they are considering "Jobs"

I would be surprised if they came out with a bunch of jobs but one or two seems likely from what I have read here and there.

Its a ways off yet. But we should see more leaked info when they open the beta up in japan in december.

The video clip I watched said we would be exploring an ancient land beyond the sea and sky. Taken literally, my theory is that we will either be going to another planet or the moon. It's been done in other FF games -- namely FFIV (FF-II SNES).

I haven't done any of the CoP missions yet, but I should make it a major project over the next few weeks. I really want to see these new areas. I went and explored Attowha Chasm tonight with my Lv.54 RDM, but warped home when I got lost amidst some IT sand lizards.

Besides a blue mage, I can't see any more holes to be filled in all the capabilities we have so far. An elementalist would be nice for dealing damage, I guess. He would have to have more punch to the damage spells than black mages and should since black mages can also enfeeble. Only other cool thing might be a necromancer -- one who can summon the corpses of fallen monsters -- maybe even use it on fallen party members, who would then get maybe 50% experience for the battle instead of losing experience all together. How cool that'd be. :D Who wouldn't want a necromancer in their party when death results in the loss of 2000 experience points. :D Of course, that's not a good reason all by itself. Necromancer would be able to drain HP and MP from undead monsters, and perhaps he'd be able to use another spell to transfer some MP to the white mage and HP to the paladin or whoever needs it. He'd have to be able to drain HP and MP from live characters, too, and more quickly than the other mages can, like maybe ever 15 seconds. Kinda stupid to speculate, I guess, since nobody's even guessing this would be a possible job. But it would be a fun one.

lol, an elementalist?
MORE damage than a blm?
Blm have A rank elemental skill, AND all the ancient magic!
in order to get elementalists you would have to do some pretty harsh nerf on blm or add some seriosly broken spells to elementalist...

or you could just play guild wars...

by the way, the difference between GAU and STRAGO in ffIII is Gau takes monster ABILITIES while Strago takes monster specific SPELLS. from the looks of these trailers, they take abilities, but since there aren't many (any?) moster specific spells, I think it fits. Just to clear that up...

Also, don't bash the fact that they may expand the world inside vanadiel too. That may add more to the adventure, finding hidden routes and/or zones to other places could make for an exciting hunt. I think chances are likely that they will expande both inside the known world as well as out, to add more overall instead of just one direction.

Can't wait...

the "beyond the sky, beyond the sea" is meant to reference the 2 "end" area's of the 2 expansions,
the whole zone/zones called "sky" is pretty much where the "end" of zillart takes place
the zone/zones called "sea" is where the end of CoP takes place.
"beyond the sea, beyond the sky" is more a metaphor for "ok, you've completed everything we have now, heres some more"

I remember when COP first came out and no one knew where the new areas connected. That was so much fun; we went on a "find the new area" tour of Vana'diel. Cant wait to do the same for TOA

the word "Geomancer" was mentioned in an enterview somewhere, cant remember exactly, but no other information on it was givin. Geomancer would be a highly affective DD, even more so than black mage, becuase where as a black mage has power over black magic(elemental/enfeeb/enhancing/dark) an elementalist is a specialist class that focuses on one area(much like smn) Geomancer would probably be givin all the basic elemental spells and AM at a much earlier level, and would probably get spells of there very own, and probably(considering other FF games in the past) be able to mix up there magic spells, (Tornado + Flood = Tsunami) or something of the sort. Bluemage is gonna be a tough one, there have been many different ways a blue mage learns there magic, my personal favorite was quina from FFIX (she ate her opponents to learn the powers XD) apparently a blue mage in FFXI has to be hit with, and survive a ability and will then have the chance of learning it, but then i got to thinking, that means you dont realy have a specific level for your spells, just a general area. then i was thinking about HNM abilitys lol, if blue mage could learn Kirin's "Deadly Grasp" or whatever that is.... well then shit hail to the blue mage lol. this is all mearly speculation and taking general info from previous FF games but i see this as entirely possible.

I was having a quick look around the web and saw that Necromancers have been used before in games, as has been said before this job deals with the raising of the dead. Therefore you could imagine "raise" type magic being a key part of this job's magic list. One other thing I found interesting was that it also had the ability to summon and control creatures, much like our current SMNs ands BSTs. As it has a connection with the dead, maybe charming of the unliving would also be this jobs major asset?

Because of the limit to variety of jobs on FFXI, Square Soft may be incline to focus on Support Job creations, for instance the added Charm, MP and ability to control the undead would be a great asset to BSTs if Necromancer was designed for specifically a support job role and limited to level 37?

Obviously the chance that this was correct would be very slim indeed, but airing this sort of thing on public forums would help S.S. see what its players were thinking.

Anyone heard anything about the current max job level being raised from 75...just wondering?
