maybe, but remember, if it is the past, then certain jobs and items will become locked. meaning no corsairs, no dragoons, no summoners, no puppetmasters, no raised chocobo\'s to be summoned. no airships, no Norg, no Jeuno, a new galka only village in altepa. the Tavnazian peninsula, windurst will not have the sacred tree there, but a building. no real stables. certain areas that are common travel will become very hard to go to. race only areas for travel, the emptiness will cease, so no relic gear, no artifact gear, mages are very rare. race specific job locks. IE Paladins are Elvaan only, Rangers are Mithra only, whm, blm are taru only, drks may only end up on galka if at all, humes might have samurai if it is allowed, etc.

If it was race job specific like you think it will be, the jobs for each race would be the following...i think lol:

TaruTaru: WHM BLM SMN
Mithra: THF RNG BST
Hume: RDM SAM NIN
Elvaan: WAR PLD DRG
Galka: MNK DRK (BRD??)**SEEING FORMORS BRDs MAKES SENCE LOL

This will be a cool thing to do since the race job specific chalange will get everyones attention and get to lvl those jobs that are supposed to be the best suited for your race. Also having the best job/race combo ull see advantages that only those ones can have for their job i.e. pld= str and vit for elvaan and mithra rng have dex and agi etc... anyhoo ill be nice if it was that on the new areas.

This expansion takes place to the events leading to the Crystal War (the war you see taking place in Tavnazia in the opening CS of FFXI). So we\'ll get to see how all 3 nations and jeuno acted together and why there was so much conflict between them. We\'ll get to see the birth of the shadow lord. We\'ll also get to see Aht Urghan refuse to help in the fight with the Shadow Lord and how that whole empire ties in with the three nations. Also I don\'t think jobs will be locked nor will relic gear be locked due to the fact the \"relic\" gear was the best gear for those jobs back in the time of the Crystal War (hence the fact it\'s also called \"Relic / Artifact\" armor.) Dynamis though is another story. Also it\'d be neat to see other area\'s like Behemoths Dominion have more than one Behemoth or King Behemoth there since in the opening CS you see about 4 or 5 Behemoths at one time and Maze of Shakrami or Labrynth of Onzozo have actual Wyrms/Wyverns about since you see their remains all around. I do wonder if they\'ll put Time Mage into the jobs or if they\'ll have a NPC Time Mage that will allow you to go into the past like that. My only concern is as always the more new stuff to come out the more RMTs are employed to engulf the world. SE will start having to make HNMs more common than 21-24 hour pops and sky triggers rare/ex popped NMs pretty soon. It\'s starting to get to the point where you can\'t do anything endgame wise due to all the drama, greed, and RMT monopolization. If it wasn\'t for the people and association on the game I think well over 70% of people wouldn\'t bother playing. But hopefully this Expansion will be for the good of all players and there won\'t be things to monopolize in it and focuses more on the story line of FFXI.

Why on earth would it be nation on nation pvp?
The Crystal War was all about the nations finally overcoming their differences to fight the shadow lord and his huge army.

thinking on what i know on the jobs / CS from trailer i can say this:
that meteor in backround of trail is gonna be a HUGE thing in the story line
drg wont be locked nin / sam wont be locked (id think) nor will cor there history gose back i think 80 years b4 great war (might be less time gotta recheck CSs). if they take out jobs, pup might cause its a \"newer\" job and wasnt even invented til after the war (puppets were around not automations u fight with though) smn might not be around because that taru who first summoned fenrir was first summoner and was at end of war in the windurst area (also the other crystals arnt excavated at this time) blu should also be in.
i dont think that they will add new jobs, only because theres no history of these jobs at all, i think they may add new spell though, utsumi:san -aga IV and tier V spells stronger whm spells drk probly get darker armor.

also on armor we will probly be able to get the AF2 armor easier (probly not called AF2 though), they hinted at this in the pup CS (iono bout cor and blu) the mithra who synths the AF armor said \"im the last person who can make AF armor but my ancestors were able to make grander armor then i\"
bosses we will probly need to kill:
a super powerful shadow lord (stronger then 1 from bc cause he wasnt fully powered when u kill him there) demons beastmen ect. but some u might not think of, the 5 dark witches from the halloween event who were controled by SL. also an interesting thing to think of is that we will be able to fight with the owners of the origonal relic weapons

think about it ur all thinking crystal war, but forgetting the war of nations, with forts and barracades over all nation dominated areas, full nation wars with new ballista style instances.... just a thought but i think it will have something to do with the goddess herself

The first, or the \'great\' summoner Karaha-Baruha obtained his power after he was employed by the Star Sybil to investigate this magic in order to win the war and save Windurst from Beastmen invasion.

His investigation was not interrupted at all, he was employed to investigate this new secret summoning magic, and they all forgot about him as it took so long, so he shows up at the end of the great war, Windurst on the brink of destruction, and spent his own life in order to summon whom we assume is Fenrir, and very likely is.

His genius comes from his incredible ability to use and practice magic. He completed every unit from every school in Windurst in a few short years and then moved on to become the minister of the Optistery until the Star Sybil requested him to investiate this secret summoning magic.

It seems to me that the power to summon is supposed to belong solely to the Star Sybil and only in times of extreme need/emergency. As back then, the magic was immature and required or at least was dangerous enough to take the live of the user.

In game I\'ve taken my name as Ampidire-Baruha as a grandson of this long lost genius and I carry on his name practicing magic based jobs. I am 75SMN, 70BLM, and 40WHM so far, I\'ve got a ways to go.

I hardly doubt SE will in any way lock certain jobs on new expansion, due to simple fact that everyone has to be allowed to play thro it and can\'t be obligated to lvl a certain job just to play the expansion. From my point of view, you will time-travel (sorta) as you are, meaning you take everything you have with you.

um....they wouldn\'t degrade all the work players have done....they\'d lose 99.9% of people that way, and there would be no point to the game if you got locked into jobs and races and it would defeat the purpose of allowing people to level cor, blu and pup in the aht urghan exp...more probable, you will be able to explore the past as any race/job combination through a time travel device. Also you will probably see a besieged style event in the 3 nations and maybe tavnazia and the normal level of orcs, yagudo, and quadav will be greatly increased. If they did lock us into job/race combinations cuz we\'re in the past, wouldn\'t it also make everyone lvl 1 with no gear...there would be no point to the entire expantion pack and SE is FAR smarter then that.

I agree with you on this one =D there would be no point to have waste all the time to lvl jobs among other things only to go into this as a lvl 1 job with nothing on >.> Surely someone has a brain!!

Very true. I would also like to point out the newer jobs would be allowed into the mix. Seeing that the automation users took part in a great war 20 years ago. Then all whent to heck due to the beastmen charming them. Corsairs would be around as well becuse alot of the old corsairs where with in the Bastok Navi during the great war. And also I would like to point out on a side note that the men of norg. (Corsair And Easter home base) was founded as a retreating point befor it became in deals of black market and eastern trade. And there are quite abit of \"Necromancer\" (or Undead summoners) there. (Would make since seeing if you talk to a cupple NPC\'s they will comment that there Summonings where diffrent then \"Todays\" summoners who summon arane beasts.)
