PlayOnline: The New Year is Upon Us!

Season's Greetings and a Happy New Year!

The world has seen many potentially catastrophic events over the past year, but thanks to the efforts of many tireless adventures, Vana'diel has survived to flourish like never before.

Her citizens extend their heartfelt gratitude!

Fortune's Menagerie

And now comes this rumor of herds of a certain beast traipsing across every area of Vana'diel.

In the words of a Far Eastern-born mercenary,
In my land, there is a beast whose tusks are said to govern the provinces of wealth and prosperity. Perhaps some intrepid soul believed these creatures to be the ones I have described, and brought them to the Middle Lands for luck. It is strange, for they bear little resemblance...

While spending a leisurely New Year in the comforts of their Mog House may sound appealing to some, you might find more excitement in chasing down these mystery beasts across field and valley!
Who knows? Perhaps an encounter with these creatures will have some effect on your fortunes...

We wish everyone a year filled with happiness and prosperity!

Event Details

This event is scheduled to begin Sunday, December 31, and end on Monday, January 15, 0:00 (PST).

So far all i have heard is that you trade stuff to the Bugards they will give you the club called like tadore or something then you give that club to a lil boy in North Sandy, this boy could be in the other citys to but im not sure.

Here is what i did:
First i traded a bunch of random things to the Wood Bugard in West Ronfaure, it seemed to be the only one i could trade to. It doesnt matter what you trade, i was doing crystals rabbit hides, arrows, fireworks, even rare/em items, which i think count for a trade but you dont lose the item. You get a buff every now and then, from protect and shell to things like enthunder or shock spikes. I eventually got a New Years Gift. This was taken to the boy right next to the gate to West Ronfaure in Northern Sandoria. I had talked to him before i started trading items, but i dont know if that matters. Give him the New Years Gift, and he gives you 3 options to choose from as a reward. 2 of thim have to do with talking to his Grandpa, and the other is \"Something from [the boy\'s] pocket.\" If you chose the pocket one, you get a lvl 1 rare/ex club \"Battledore\".
This is as far as I have gotten, and can confirm this. From there i hear you must equip the club, then board the airship to Windurst and talk to someone on board. You give him black ink (2 i think) and bast parchment and he will paint a picture which is a furnishing that supposedly gives the \"Moghancement : Money\" bonus, which i have no clue as to what it does. This is what i have heard from many players whom i trust, but i can only confirm the part up to obtaining the battledore.

you do get the club, but for those that can\'t board the ship don\'t get a shot at the furnishing. that is just biased.

To add to the post above, the walkthrough is accurate, the paddle is a rare ex club: Battledore, dmg 2 delay 264, all jobs level 1. It looks like a paddle with some decorations o.O
After you trade the 2 ink and 1 parchment for the R/EX painting \"Hoary Spire\", you get to keep that and the club.

did the one in Sandoria

kidlocated at D-8 (close to the north sandoria gate) request for a new year gift

which can be gather when trade item *any* to the wood Bugard and sometime it will give buffing like protect or shell...etc but then it will give you a new year\'s gift.

trade gift to the kid it offer u 3 choice of payment

choose the second one : something from the boy\'s pocket
then the payment is the Battledore.

other payment are the hints that his grandpa is on the airship from jeuno to windurst

Equip Battledore and get on the airship, grandpa is located at the upper deck of the airship.
talk to him and he will request 2 jars of black ink (material/alchemy) and a sheet of bast parchment (material/woodworking).

In return he will give you a Copy of \"hoary Spire\"
Furnishing: A beautiful watercolor painting

That doesn\'t seem right. I mean, I can\'t see SE leaving anyone out. I don\'t know.

I got my club and tried getting another New Years Gift to see if you could get other things. I wonder if after you get the club you can\'t get anymore Gifts. I wish I would have talked to his Grandpa to see what he had to say.

Did anyone talk to the Grandpa?

Actually it\'s right. You can trade rare/ex items and you keep them in your inventory. I spammed trading a Davoi Key and I got the present in about 10 trades. I did this in West Ronfaure also. You trade to the Wood Bugard btw, and keep doing it til you get the New Years Gift. Take it into N. Sandy near the West Ron exit gate and trade it to the boy named Jeanparmand. Select \"Present from your pocket\" option and you get the Battledore. Next Equip the Battle door and go to Jueno and board the airship to Windurst. On the upper level you\'ll see a NPC named Dilauriome. He tells you to bring him 2 jars of black ink and 1 sheet of bast parchment. You MUST have the Battledore equipped in order for him to appear. Trade him those items to get your furniture item. ^^ And that my friends is that! Enjoy the new years present!

would the inability to remove them be caused by your Storage being full?

You can\'t get the furniture out, the main reason is that you have item placed in the furniture (storagernrnFor example, if you place a furniture which have storage 1, you can place 1 item in the storage. When you want to remove the furniture, you need to take the item in your storage first.

I talked to the Grandpa after getting my Furnishing, He just talks about knowing the Star Sybil and reminisces about his past. He also talks to one of the children via his Linkshell.
