The furnishing gives mogenhancement: money which \"Increases your luck with money\".

No idea what it does but so far it doesn\'t seem to affect beastman gil drops or npc buy price.

Thank you for the tips about the storage -I totally missed that. As for the New Year\'s item I got the item after trading about 15 items that range from distilled water to worms and honey that I had left over on me. I placed the painting in my MH and took out all my furniture just to make sure that nothing will affect the painting. A day has passed, and still didn\'t notice an increase in gil. One thing I did not do is try to gamble with the npc in front of the fountain in Sandy.

Did you talk to the boy first? I think that initiates the quest.

(Step 1: Start the event)
There are three children that are communicating to their grandpa via linkshell. One of these three children NPCs can be found in the starting three nations. Talk to one of them to start the event!

You can find one of the children NPCs at the following locations:
Windurst Port - Pyru-Copyru - (B-4)
San d\'Oria North - Jeanparmand - (D-8)
Bastok Markets - Bunta - (D-11)

(Step 2: Get the New Year\'s Gift!)
Now you have to find a family of NPC Bugards that are roaming around various zones. By trading any item to the Wood Bugard, you get a random gift in return! Keep trading items until you get the \"New Year\'s Gift\" item, it may take a good number of trades. Once you get the \"New Year\'s Gift\" item, return to the child NPC who activated the event quest and trade it to him or her. Choose the second option when he asks you and you will then receive the Battledore club!

Locations of the family of Bugards:
Batallia Downs
Beaucedine glacier
East Altepa Desert
East Sarutabaruta
Qufim Island
Sanctuary of Zi\'Tah
Sauromauge Campaign
Valkrum Dunes
West Ronfaure
Xarcabard

Other things you may receive from the Wood Bugard:
Shock Spikes Buff
Enthunder Buff

(Step 3: Find the Old Man!)
Now that you have your Battledore, its time to find the grandpa. Dilauriome can be found on the Jeuno to Windurst airship, on the upper deck. Talk to him with the Battledore equipped and he will ask you for 2 Black Inks and a Bast Parchment. Trade him the items and he will create for you the Copy of \"Hoary Spire\" furnishing. Congratulations, you now have both New Year\'s event items

you do get the club, but for those that can\'t board the ship don\'t get a shot at the furnishing. that is just biased.

I have not tried it yet but I wonder if the Battledore might be a \"temporary pass\" for the airship. The guides that I have read said \"Equip the battledore and board the Windurst-Jeuno airship.\" I am going to give it a try. I hope it works too.

I\'ve also made well over a thousand trades, nothing. Talked to 2 npcs in 2 cities multiple times beforehand. 1 stack of cookies, 50+ bolts, 1 stack spicy crackers, 3 hours of spamming a relic gun. 2 different areas, even killed Jaggedy Jack while using wide scan for them.

Nothing.

Well I did the quest and got the Moghancement: Money. So I had to test it to see if this is like Gilfinder or not. I went to the Palborough Mines and killed 60 Quadav\'s with it active and 60 with out it. The results are disappointing. With it on I got a total of 595 gil. Without it active I got a total of 643 gil. On this trip I actually got an 8% increase without the Money Moghancement. So I think it is safe to say that this Moghancement has nothing to do with the amount of gil beastmen drop.

is it possible that the \"moghancement: money\" interacts with Gilfinder? perhaps it could be tested in qufim on giants there.. since giants drop the most gil from similar lvl beastman mobs, would be the best way to see a smallish increase in droprate.. (the biggest effect+% i have seen in the game is 12% from a single source and 1/8th is small enough to miss the increase in a small sample pool.)

I lost my Guide Beret to this stupid quest. Of course the GM\'s are no help and said there\'s no guarantee you will get any items back from the bugards. I suggest not trading anything rare/ex if you really like the item because they won\'t get it back for you if the bugard accepts it. Also traded tons of items to the Wood Bugard in front and I got zip. GM\'s new final comments should be \"Is there anything else I can NOT help you with this evening?\" I don\'t know if I even want to try to finish this quest now.

Why doesn\'t someone test it using vendors, maybe it\'s not so much \'gilfinder\' on mobs, but the buying and selling to vendors? I have to many furnishings in my MH to be able to test out the enhancement ; ; so no Money Enhancement for me.
