Walkthrough for
Blade Of Darkness
Talk to Gumbah twice, for two cut-scenes.
Go to Palborough Mines and take the elevator at I-8 to the third floor.
Proceed to the river boat at H-8, get on and pull the lever to take it. As the boat ride ends in Zeruhn Mines, you will get a cutscene with Zeid and receive Chaosbringer.
Kill 100 monsters with Chaosbringer. You can start killing with another weapon (or pull with a ranged weapon), but the killing blow must be as a standard melee attack from Chaosbringer. Do not use weaponskills to kill them, as that will not count towards the 100 kills; monsters that suicide will not count either. You can kill any monsters in any zone, although the low level bees and worms outside of Bastok make for easy targets when going for the 100 kills that are necessary.
Once you have at least 100 kills with the sword, go to Beadeaux. As you zone in, you will see a cutscene with Zeid, and you can now become a Dark Knight.
Note that you will want to keep Chaosbringer even after this quest is completed, if you plan on completing the Blade of Death quest.
Recommended Level for
Blade Of Darkness
A level 30 job is required to obtain this quest, which should be safe for completing most of it. A character exactly at level 30 will still gain aggro from some of the Quadav on the third floor of Palborough Mines, so Sneak is recommended at that level. It is recommended that a level 30 character take a chocobo to Beadeaux and then use an Instant Warp scroll or another method of safely leaving after recieving the cut-scene there, to avoid aggro.

Posted by: Malec,
The best places to obtain the 100 kills easily is in the starting zones around Bastok, Windy, and San D'Oria (I.E.: North and South Gustaburg, East and West Ronfaure and East and West Sarutabaruta).

Posted by: Zeryn,
It only counts if you get the killing blow yourself, it also doesn't count as a kill if you finish the mob with a spell or weaponskill, melee strikes only.

Posted by: Theocrat,
if i pty and 3 of us kill with chaosbringer does it matter who kills the creature or does it only count for the guy who defeated it, or does the pty get credit?
