I went in with a Bst lvl 20 on light day with a +8 cha a Drg/war and a War/Nin was going to charm one set let it fight cola-cola while bst drg and war killed other furry.

in 4 runs not one time was we able to charm one of the sets of furries.... even with the fails we almost was able to win.

what did we do wrong as far as the charm goes?

My room mate is a BST and when we do this, he usually goes in with Monster Signa, a Bird Whistle, two Hope Rings, and one of the head pieces that give a +2 and usually eats a Tuna Sushi, which adds another +5, for a total of +22.

Even with that, he sometimes has to attempt a charm several times to get it to stick. The best I have seen him do was charm once and got the first one, the worse, both of the furries he had to attempt 4 or 5 times to get it to stick.

When we go together, he goes Bst/Nin, I go War/Nin and our third goes Whm/Sum. However, I have seen him solo this many times, and I beleive when soloing he goes Bst/Whm.

Hope that helped.

oops, lol, yeah, telling you that step would have helped. He does use Familiar (sorry, should have mentioned that). Also as kind of a heads up, the first few times he tried to solo this, he did die (horribly lol), but once he got the hang of it it was pretty straight forward.

As I recall too, the drop rate for him with the astral ring was something like 1/6 or 1/10 something like that. When he was learning to solo it, we geared up for a normal run with three of us, and pretty much let him try and solo it and only jumped in when he was having "issues". I want to say we only had to sit with him 3 or 4 times before he got into the groove.

Hope this helps.

I have only done this twice, but my LS do this all the time (for Astral rings).

We always go SMN x3. We usually do it in less than 1.30 mins and have the record oin our server.

We finally got monster sig. And it still took 3 tries to get it to stick.

I think we finally have an understanding of this one... I am going to go w/ 3 smn's : ) or w/ 3 pups

My drops was translucent rock
platoon axe
scroll of invisible
and a bat fang

20k - 25k worth of stuff.

My friend and I have got this thing down pat.

I'm Galka BST20, he's Elvaan PLD20, and we usually try to take a WHM or RDM along for healing, although if they're 18-20 it's fine.

The healer protect(ra)s, shell(ra)s, barwateras and barpoisonras. They each usually pop a yagudo drink, since the PLD is a cook.

He vokes a fury, I attempt to charm one, and I stress attempt... cause sometimes I have to kite it while I wait for the charm timer.

Once I've got it charmed I Familiar, then sick it on Colo-colo and we get out of Poisonga range. PLD and I kill the fury while Colo gets worn down by my pet. I've had to heel it once, too.

Once pet dies (pet MUST die when BST 2hrs) we finish off Colo. Probably 5/20 for astral rings.

It has taken me up to 10 attempts to charm the fury. Keep at it and for god's sake, run for your life!

Well I have now done this BCNM 10 times and we are 7/10
with an astral ring drop 3 times.
And we have taught other members in our ls this strategy and they are 14/15. I don't remember what their astral ring drop rate was. but this is how we do it

We go in with Bst/War Bst/Whm and Mnk/War
Both Bst choose their /target(left set, Right set) and Charm. One set Usually resists on the first try and the other set is charmed. Charmed set is sent to attack Cola-Cola. Furies that failed to charm Mnk/War Provokes and Begins to kite until bst that failed can atempt to retry.
Once under control it is then sent to take on Cola-Cola. Everyone is Resting getting hp back and mp. Once one of the furies looses its charm status apropriate bst will atempt to charm again. If failes repeat Mnk/War to Kite. In the Case Cola-cola kills a set of Furies Mnk/War will move in to fight Cola Cola. If Cola Cola Dies first then Wait for one set of furies to uncharm. If you used your 2hr ability it may be necessary to log out and log back in to uncharm your fury. Bst/War will assist in fighting once it is down to either 2 furies or Cola-Cola and a set of furies.

If it isnt obvious Bst/whm concentrates on healing

We tend to go on 98%-100%-98% and have gotten a higher drop rate on astral rings.
When doing multiple runs it seems to us that it gets harder with each consecutive run.

Hey all, see these posts and just wanna put in my 2 cents as we have done this way too often and flooded the market with astrals on our server (/slaps his own face). But i put this out for those who need money (who doesnt). Play it safe, dont lose seals, 3X BST/WHM. Its overkill and 99% win if done properly. Designate 1 bst to grab left bat and 1 for right bat, send them at colo, if someone fails, the 3rd bst can backup charm. Yes, you may still fail charms, but less kiting required + you can heal yourself if everyone is /whm. once colo drops, send one bat after another, now you have 2 backup charms, finally beat the eyes off the last one. This will allow 3 quick wins without 2hr'ing, or 2hr on your own orb, your choice. Things we noticed, astral ring drops about 25%, the fight does seem to be harder after winning one (might just be in our heads), out of about 60-70 runs, we have never seen the ring drop 2 times in a row, and charm is never 100%, winning is never 100%. Hope this helps some ppl ^^

I was just wondering if anyone has soloed this before and if so can u give me a battle strategy for it. I was thinking that maybe as soon as it starts use familiar on one of the furries and have it attack Colo-Colo. Then taking the other furries out myself. After i kill furries go and kill Colo-Colo with along side charmed furries. Wait for charm to finish and finish off last furries. If anyone can give me some feedback i'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Another good set up for this fight is as follows:

Pld/War
Rdm/Whm
Blm/Whm

No kiting..no pussy-footing. Plain devastation.

Blm stays back and nukes and backup heals. (two hour is optional)

Rdm buffs/debuffs (para and slow are very very helpful) and melees with Pld (both tanking all three bats) and assists Pld with curing himself. I typically would two hour to make sure I could get off cures in beginning as its that is most crucial time of fight as initial bat barrage take pally down quick. But once we got our curing cycle going, never got below yellow again.

pld and rdm and Skill chain as well to increase dmg.

Food

Blm ate Pie
Pld ate boiled crab
Rdm ate pie

Melon juice used by all.

It is dangerous if your not really fast with spells in beginning, but once you get settled in..fight goes fast.

We did it twice and were successfull both times. Second time we got Carbuncle Server record time was under two minutes I remember.

Side note: It does help to have great equips for rdm though, to make sure melee dmg is adequate to assist Pally and BLM Nukes in whopping Furies quick so you can concentrate on Colo Colo.

I had the following from what i remember as Rdm.

Sword: Auriga Xyphos (sp) Rare/ex
Shield: Lantern Shield (Attack +4 or 5 i think)

Armor:
Leather Body Armor
Light Soleas (Evasion +3)
Sandorian Gloves (Attack +3)
Leather leg armor ( i think)
Justice Badge
Sandorian Ring
Dex +2 ring
Some crappy earings =)
Sandorian Headband (Agi +1) (i think)

Sadly, no Astral Rings which were to be for me =( But I did get Platoon Spear for my Drg which is a decent dmg spear. and some air spirt pact or something for blm. Also gots some fangs and other crap we didn't need.
