I'd like to add that the rank requirement of 3 seems faulty in the walkthrough and info. I'm on mission 2-1, rank 2, and I bought a bronze bed when I could. Just earlier today the Moogle activated the quest.

Yes, you have to have a
fame
level of at least three for this quest to be activated. I do not think that rank has anything to do with the requirements of the quest.
