PS2 - Expansion Transfer?

I have played FFXI on my PC for a long time. However, recent events have forced me to begin playing on the PS2, though I would much rather do so on the Xbox 360. Now, I have all the expansion packs up to point for the PC. Using the PS2 I dont have said expansions as I do not have the games in PS2 format. However, I noticed that all the files that updated are essentially structured in the same manner as that of the PC. So, my question is as follows: Is it possible to set the PS2 HDD as a slave on a normal PC, then transfer the expansion .DATS into it? If its possible, I would think it theoretically possible to gain access to expansion areas as long as one has them enabled. The only flaw I see in this theory is either:

A) The requirment of the original PS2 Media to be
inserted whenever expansion areas are loaded
B) There is some kind of registry code installed during
the PS2 expansion pack installation, or
C) The PS2 HDD cannot be read by a PC. (Though I am sure
software to read a PS2 HDD exists.)

If anyone can answer this question, it would be most appreciated. I would prefer not to have to go out and repurchase games I already own.

All three of your forseeable problems are probably true. However, from outside knowledge I can tell you Sony has a wonderful propensity for making their proprietary items nearly incompatable with other hardware. I do not know this to be the case with the PS2 HD, but having done computer repair and service for years I can tell you Sony Hardware with nonSony system doesn't tend to work well if at all. If your computer is a Vaio best of luck to you.

no, just plain a simple no.

no, the game (once loaded) never touches the cd drive ever

B) There is some kind of registry code installed during the PS2 expansion pack installation, or

nope, not really, POL and FFXI are just bytes on the HD to the PS2

C) The PS2 HDD cannot be read by a PC. (Though I am sure software to read a PS2 HDD exists.

to both, yes (technicly, but hard to setup right if your not tech savvy)

thats pretty much what your gonna have to do.
you dont actually need to buy them tho, since you dont need the codes inside (allready attached your account from when you played on pc), you can just borrow someone's discs

I play ff11 on my ps2 i already tried to have a pc try to read the HDD. The HDD cannot be read by anything but what it was made for. Thus, going to great lengths by forcing the thing to be read by anything else, will result into dammaging the HDD itself. I recomend againts doing it any more. Transfering char. files ask POL in California about that.

The best thing to do would be find a friend who has purchased the games for PS2. Because you already have your access codes, you do not need the new access code included in a retail version, you just need the software.

Also, check Ebay... maybe someone is selling them used for cheap. If you can get the discs, you are golden.
