as I understand it, in order to obtain this cap you need to level every job to at least 66 and defeat Maat in every job.

actually, remember that to fight maat, you only need to be 66.
as for the rumor though, I heard it was with 3 or 5 jobs.

3 jobs is somewhat reasonable. Anything more than that (even with the new xp calcultion) is utterly ridiculous. The most jobs 70+ I've seen a person with on my server is 5, and they literally never log out of stop leveling. They've also had the game since JP launch.

I can't confirm this, but the way I've heard to get this cap is by completing a new quest from maat. I don't know what the quest entails, but if you have high fame and are level 71-75 (you may even have to be 75), go talk to maat.

Several people have tried talking to Maat in my LS with their level 75 jobs. They got no new info about a new quest from him.
As for getting multiple jobs to 70+ even before the patch you only needed about 800k xp to get to 70 (I could be wrong on this number). If you're fortunate and can keep in decent statics (not really that hard if you find like minded people or have a larger LS) it's quite doable to gain 5k an hour on average. That's 160 hours of partying. If you can xp for 4 hours a day 5 days a week thats 100k xp per week so about 8 weeks to get a job to 70.
Yes gil is an issue but if you gardened while taking a first job up that high it's quite possible to have a good amount of gil saved up, and if you sacrifice your previous eq for each new job it's very doable to level this fast or faster once you've gone through once already.

If by "some people" you mean people who do nothing but play this game then yes, I agree with you.

actually, to fight maat, you only need to be lv66. The difference (with the new system) between 66 and 70 is about 130k.

Actually, I think s/he meant people who create efficient XP PTs. A few people I know work full time, go out on occasional weekends, and have 3 75 jobs. They just know the game in and out, and when they exp they mean business.
