the firework vender moogles are in northern sandy, and yet the edit submitted regarding the wrong vendor locations still said port sandy. if you check the map and the location, there actually isn't anything there at all, D-8 Port San d'oria doesn't exist... wth?

The moogle event has started, so i'll try to post what I find out.
You need 2 people, and you get teleported out of the city, so far i've been to tarongi canyon and konscat highlands. (my spelling is terrible with these places, so forgive me).
When you arrive, you have sneak and ivis on (which only lasts a few secs) and you have a teleport scroll to the city you came from.
Apparently, resting is the key, as the compass will tell you directions from then. The moogles have disappeared atm, so i cant test it myself.
Lastly, the reward is a yukuta that dispenses firework launchers, like a gun or something. I also saw someone go into a circluar lamp costume, but dont know anything more on that (they were japanese)
i'll write a more complete guide when i get it working. the recast time for fireworks is about 168 hours, and im not sure how many you get.

I have both items now, quite easy to get, with fun little rewards. Rather than re-writing a brand new guide, I thought i'd just link to one I found:
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=10;mid=115439486127263342;num=27;page=1
A few additions:
If you or your partner dies in the zone, then the other wont be able to examine the point..
You don't lose exp when you die.
If you examine a wrong point, then you cannot check any others in the zone and must start again.

Yeah, just finished this with my partner. The NQ is pretty easy. But for HQ they stick a bunch of points together right in the middle of a bunch of mobs. Turned my doll in seconds before the maintenance started. Definately tricky.

so if you bought the yukata last year, do you have to throw it away in order to get the one from the event?

;_; my bf and i got super frustrated cos of where the checkpoints are. It's silly because the sneak and invis that's casted on you lasts all of 5 seconds if that, so it's only helpful to get away from where you spawned (if theres lots of monsters around).
we ended up telling a high level friend of ours to come kill the weapons near tele-mea :P
we're doing the same for other people until the event is over, too.

Does anyone know if the Lord's Yukata will be available this year? I have two yukatas so far from (one with fireworks, the other the glowing cyclops head with the tongue hanging out). I have only seen one person with the lords yukata, and he got it from last years event.

I don't think you can get much of anything else with this event. After the yukatas it's basicly just trivial things like fans. If someone can prove me wrong, please do so.
