can you set up your F1 keys to be skills?

Im on a computer and last night I was in my first real party /w my whm, I was haveing trouble healing ppl cuz I kept haveing to go through the menu to find cure then I would have to move around the fight so I could have a clear veiw of everyone so I could use the mouse to select who ever needs healing :S.

I found that some of the F keys will target the party members but it didnt seem to be in any order and it was spread out through the keys, instead of being F1-4 it was F3 F5 F8, something like that. Is it also possable to set 2 keys to scroll up and down on the party list?

Hello,

I play on a PC as well. The only suggestion I have is make sure that in the Configuration settings, you are not on Compact Keyboard (or or not, you may want to try that then). For me, F1 targest me, and F2 - F6 targets people in my Party. I am at the top of the part list so the F2 targets the second person in the list, F3 the third, etc.

As for a button that scrolls though the party list, that I dont know, I have never tried.

Incidentily, hitting F8 for me usually targetst the closest NPC/Mob.

I use the compact keyboard settings. My main is 50 whm I use the F1 key to target the first person in the party window and F2 for the next one down and so on and so on.

for setting spells to a key you will have to make macros and use the crtl and alt keys to access them.

I use ctrl 1 through ctrl 5 for curing to set a macro go to menu select the macro option and you will see a list of all the macros. there are 10 sets total

line 1: /p Cure ----> <p1>
line 2: /ma "Cure" <p1>

there are some goos macro guides online I cnat remember the links but if you look online you can find some good ones

Mmmh ... this should not be the case. But whatever ...

As somebody else already wrote F1 is yourself and F2 to F6 are the other party members. The order mirrors the order of the party list in the bottom right part of the screen.

As to macros:

if you use "/ma "Cure" <stpc>" (stpc = set target player character) you can choose which one of the party you'll cure. Hit the macro, then the corresponding F-key and then Enter.
This way you don't use precious space by spreading out one cure over several macro slots.

For things like Dia you use <bt> = battle target. It automatically targets the mob your party is fighting.

I also recommend not to use party chat for telling everybody that you are curing somebody. It just creates more spam in the already (even with chat filters on) to fast scrolling log window.
The only time I use party chat is a) when I am about to use Benediction to tell the PLD that s/he please should at least try to use Invincible so that there is a slight chance that I won't die, and b) to tell the party that they should "{Gather together} for {Protectra} and {Shellra} in 3". The complete macro:

/p {Gather together} for {Protectra} and {Shellra} in 3
/wait 3
/ma "Protectra" <me>
/wait 7
/ma "Shellra" <me>
