Hey Guys! I was a warrior in San D'oria, Lvl. 16 and since i switched from server Lakshmi to Siren, I've noticed a big difficulty (In my opinion) to find items In the auction house, even at low levels. But when i was in Lakshmi, it was plentiful of stuff. My question is which site is 'the best' to 'the worst'? Second Question is i plan on going to a new server and i want to start off as a Red Mage since they can use swords as well. Any recommendations on a Red Mage or should i use a different mage? What Species? Please enlighten my newbie mind. Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and levl all the jobs to 20 one by one. You will find your calling as what ever job fits best for you. you can get some good starting gil this way aswell. once you get high enough to get the advanced jobs you will have to do this again to see if there is something better for you. i certainly cant tell you what to be. but monk kicks ass for me, so that is what i am.
Above all have fun and experiment and embrace death. you will know it well. lol.

This is not meant to try and turn you away from RDM, but this is my experence with this job:

Early on from about 1-10, it's a pretty nice job. You have a neat blend of White and Black magic and can use some of the better swords out there.

11-20: Once you start PTing, the game changes alot. Most will want you to cover for the absence of a BLM or WHM. Can still find some PTs that was willing to let you run meele, but that starts vanishing.

21-25: You start becomming more of a caster then a fighter. Everyone is completly expecting you to be a full time White/Black mage and pretty much doing nothing but De-buffing. SOMETIMES you'll find a ground that will let you get one the front line and swing if it does not interfere with your casting.

26-30: You've pretty much become a combined mage that can use heavyer armor then the other two. You can still swing your sword but that is very much frouned upon.

30-41: Meele? What's that? I've actully been thrown out of PTs for even drawing my sword. De-buffs and backup healing/nuking/MB is mainly your job.

42-onward: One word: Refresh. Your job will be keeping the Magic Users under this effect. You open with De-buffs and the right on to the Refreshes. This is alittle lighter if you have a Bard in the party, but do not hold your breath.

In conclusion, if you REALLY enjoy being in the frey all the time with your WAR, I would recommend trying another path. Like the other poster said, MNK is a good meele out of the base 6. Later on, you get DRK, SAM, and DRG. Some of the nastyest DDs in the game. I personally took RDM to 43 before the annoyance of "Refresh me!" wore down my nerves to the point I just ditched it and went DRG.

One final word of advice: If you do desided to follow RDM, be ready for alot of backline support and very little up close and personal action while you are in PTs.

What Bastokan_mm is all true; however, you are a Red -Mage-. Yes, you can use swords. More importantly, you can cast. I'm currently RDM52 and love it. Refresh is not my job; it's my forte. Feebs are not my job; they're my duty. And the fact that I can burst magic for close to what a BLM can... priceless. Not only that, I'm the primary healer for my static group.

If you can do as much dmg as a blm with spells that blm is horrible. lol Rdm = Refresh

hmm well in the Hades server theres plenty in the AH but the prices are quite high, i'm lvl 41 rdm and i've found that i dont really like using it in a party anymore, so im lvling nin as a sub to solo, not sure how it will work out but i'll see ^^
