Server Options?

Hello everyone!
Quick question to who ever can help me...

I've been playing FFXI since January. My girlfriend has been there watching me play on-and-off since the beggining. I think she is finally comming around and willing to buy it for her PS2, and create a character of her own. I'm pretty pumped about that. It will give us something more in common... plus she wont "chew me out" as much for playing this game all the time

My main concern is that I want her to be on the same server as I am (Hades). Is there a way to set it up to choose what server a player can start out on?
I know SE puts you on a random server (depending on which ones are over-crowded or under-crowded at the time).
I dont know if there is a way to choose one.

Would it be possible to create a Content ID, see if it gets put on Hades Server... if it does get on Hades...great! ..... but if it doesnt, could she delete the Content ID and recreate a new one until it does get placed on Hades??
Is that even possible to do?
Are there any other ways that I dont know about?

Thanks for your help!!

The World Pass in FFXI is set up to do exactly what you're looking for; let people who know each other play together on the same server. You'll need to go to one of the World Pass Dealer NPCs and buy a world pass from them. That generates a number that she can fill in when she creates her character, which will place her new character on your server.

else, yes, it's possible to delete caracter and create a new one; she'll be randomly thrown in a world again... but considering that tehre's about 30 servers (worlds), then it could take a while to get to the good server...

I know this is off topic, I just want to give some advice. I was in the same position about a year ago with my Fiance. Once she started playing we got into a couple of fights. This was because I had the feeling I lost some freedom. Everytime I played FFXI we had to do things together.
This might not apply to you, I know every relationship is different. Just wanted to tell try and warn you. All and all it was the best thing to ever happen to me in FFXI.

My wife just recently decided to start playing also so we bought it for the PS2 and I am on the comp. It does get a little annoying at times when I have to keep showing her how to do things, but it is also a lot of fun. Of course, my wife works 3rd shift and I work 1st so we only play together for an hour or 2 a night and then I do want I want when she leaves. On weekends she doesn't play that much. The best thing that came out of this whole thing is that there is no more complaining that I play it too much. I also started a new job, ranger, and only level that with her. We are both at level 16 now and when she leaves I go back to my 38PLD. It can go both ways, but hopefully yours will be as good as mine has been.

I'll chime in here too.
My wife was a bit intersted in this. So I picked her up a copy. Same as others have stated here... When she played she always wanted to do things with me. So I have a few nights where I have my "game nights"; She wanted to also play with me. Major problem was she was a lvl 10 whm, and I wanted to play with my friends who were all lvl 35+...

Her instrest wained and eventually she dropped the game. We did have some fun adventures, that's for sure. If she's looking in to playing to be able to spend more time with her guy; WARNING!!!! BE CAREFUL!!!!! TREAD LIGHTLY!!!! Your gaming time might be severely impacted. If she sincerely wants to play the game (not always with you); great! more power to her!

It's just kind of a drag to always have to tell someone where to go, what to do, how to do it... which way to the AH, etc etc etc.... they have to really want to play.

<off track, nearly had the same thing happen in WoW... this time I held back, and just let her play by herself on my account when she felt like it.... good thing too since she's only played a handful of times>

<ffxi retired - currently playing WoW>
