What does TP mean??

Sorry for the question everyone, but I am a new player. I've read the instruction manual front to back and cannot find out what TP stands for. I see its bar underneath my MP bar when I go to player status. I notice that it definitely fills up as I am attacked. Can someone please shed some insight. I've played many of the prior Final Fantasies, but do understand that online is a different animal. Thanks in advance for the help.

TP stands for "Tactical Points."

If you've ever played a previous Final Fantasy title, I could say that it's similar to "Limit Breaks," "Overdrives" or "Trance".

Once you accumulate 100% TP, you can use your "Weapon Skill." A Weapon Skill (WS) is a special technique specific to the weapon you have equipped. You can use your first weaponskill when your Weapon Skill Level reaches level 10. Most every WS has special attributes that take effect depending on the amount of TP accumulated. For some Weaponskills, you are more likely to earn Critical Hits with your WS if you have more TP. For another, a monster may remain stunned for a longer period of time if you use your WS with more TP.

Thank you so much for the reply. That's along the lines of what my guess is, but since I'm only a lvl 7 BLM I have yet to acquire any weaponskills. Once again thank you for the help.
