What does Catastrophe do?

Hey, I'm a bit of a newby to FFXI, my highest lvl char is 30 :P, i'm planning on taking up a DRK/SAM, and in my newbiness wanted to see the higest lvl weapon for Drk. The Apocalypse. What does this catastrophe ability do? Thanks in advance for your help.
