AF1+1 upgrade confusion

after upgradeing AF i intend to redo my AF quests to be able to store my NQ af..however i dont know if i need to redo coffer obtained af? my plan was to toss my quested parts but keep my coffer obtained pices...my question is if that would work? i mean if i do this im not sure what where to happen if i open a coffer in where my af should be...would it tell me i cannot obtain my af cuz i already have it or would it give me gil because it recognizes i have that piece already? i hope i explained this right..been confusing me for a while now

well if you use your NQ to turn into HQ AF, that means you don't have the AF no longer. just restart all the quests.

It gave me gil when I put mine away to be upgraded, got coffer key and opened coffer.

Actually I ran into this situation a little while ago when I got my Hunter's Bracers +1. When you talk to the Elvaan dude to reset your artifact quests, it actually resets *all the way* back to your AF1 weapon. I had to go and get my Bow of Suck again before I could start the AF2 quest with Perih Vashai, once you have started that quest (do not need to complete it) you can start to acquire AF or Old Gauntlets from coffers again.

Is that just because you threw that piece away though? I would think if someone had stored his/her weapon, they would start at AF2?
