i have seen these new lv 72 weapons, which all have a latent effect crit+6% and increased DMG...i havnt found anyone who could answer as to how the latent effect is activated. i have heard it activates after getting 500 points exactly like the trial weapons. i have also heard you just need 500 WS on any mob that is EP or better. i have even heard that if u do another 500WS after activating the latent effect it will diactivate ...i just want a real answer and not some more speculation, unless it is that no one knows? thanks in advance for any useful input ^^b

I cannot atest to the latent effect other than destoryers. My LS has a number of 73+ monks and a few of them have gotten these and cleared the latent on them. It took about 500 points for the latent to be removed. That is not to say they had to do their WS 500 times (though that in and of itself would be 500 points). One of our monks have had the latent removed for quite some time and has not mentioned a decrease in damage or increase in delay and it's quite probably he would have gotten another 500 points since clearing the latent.

Does the actual "latent effect" text disappear from the weapon description after you clear it, or does it always remain printed like Trial Weapons?

In other words how do you know when you've cleared it?

equip a weapon of similiar damage.

So, destroyers being a D+18 weapon when unlocked, you would equip (for example) Tigerfangs, and go fight TW mobs in sauromugue. The reason you fight TW mobs outside of jeuno is due to the fact your attack and STR should allready cap out on those mobs and your only damage restriction is the D on your weapon. if you are outputting similiar melee damage from Destroyers and Tigerfangs, your weapon is unlocked.
