I am a level 12 ranger and i miss alot. I no this is becuase of my Archery and Marksman are not maxed (And they should be... I'm working on it.). But since the update your distance from the enime makes your much dmg you do or how much you hit? Can someone post a picture of about the distance I should be when I am using a Longbow or a Xbow? Thanks.

P.s. I am on the xbox beta so i cannot download the thing that shows me on pc. Dont hate me becuase im on xbox please : )

Ok, Well I play on PS2 and currently have a 65 RNG. WHat works best for me, is to start just out of melee distance then work my way back one step at a time till my damage reaches a platau. When I hit the mob for the same amount of damage consistently with fewer misses then I know I'm in what everyone calls the " sweet spot". If you keep missing, which at that level you will, move in a couple steps. Try and stack up on as much RNG ACC+ gear you can get your hands on. Hope that helps and good luck with RNG. It only gets better the higher you get so stick with it.

Do not focus purely on Ranged Accuracy as the previous poster suggests. Accuracy "whores" as my friends and me call them end up dealing less damage in the long run. STR is such a huge contributor to damage (yes, even Gun damage) that you should most definitely devote some slots to it.

Back to the OT.

I do not use Bows so I cannot say with any conviction what to do w/ your range. Based on how actual archery is though, I'd say get as far away as you can if you have a long bow. Medium range w/ a short bow.

I've tested throwing a lot. You're the most accurate and highest damaging point-blank. In fact, I got my highest numbers in damage by de-locking and stepping inside of the monster.

Xbow is my lsmate's speciality. But I've used it too. The closer you are the more accurate you are but less damaging. The farther is the opposite. Depending on any given monster you're going to have to adjust accordingly.

My friend is weird. He decides to focuse purely on ranged attack and STR and melee and use Xbow pointblank. It's an interesting concept. Maybe it's something you may want to test out.

If you're missing a lot, which by your post you said you are, then you def don't want to listen to the other person who replied and stack up on STR...especially at lv 12. You thought you missed a lot now, stack up on STR and see how much you miss.

I don't think I need to say anything else. Not to mention, why _especially_ at Lv.12? Because soloing in Konschtat on Bees or Worms requires you to have amazing accuracy? Or is it because at Lv.12 there is a plethora of RACC gear? (On that same note there isn't much STR gear either.)

Now, at 14 we can talk. At 14 you should get two STR rings not AGI rings. At 14 you can get AGI elsewhere, and you'll have your Ranger Neck for 5 RACC. Not to mention your HQ bow will give you some RACC already. But gear isn't everything. There's another far more important consideration.

If your food is RATTK oriented, you'll need more RACC in gear to compensate. So just keep all factors in mind. Don't just focus on one stat.

As a final redeemer for myself, I said my friend who did all STR was "weird." I only threw that idea out there because it's an actual example of something different that people are doing. It seemed a very fitting example considering the OT was about distance from monster, and the reason my friend uses all STR is because he point-blanks the mob.
