dmg types

I know there are 3 different dmg types depending on the weapon. For instance, most polearms are piercing dmg (bourdonasse is blunt), most swords are slashing (fencer types are piercing), etc. My question is this: I'm told that H2H are all blunt by some people, and I'm told there are different types. For instance, Cesti-type are blunt, but are the claw and hook types slashing and piercing? or all they all blunt? I'm doing limbus with a couple friends (I'm on nin) and I'd like to be able to contribute to beating up mobs on the 2nd and 3rd floors (which are weak/immune to piercing/slashing and blunt/piercing respectively).

I know for sure that yes, the majority are blunt damage. Specifically, the "patas" type hand-to-hand weapons are piercing damage. I've tried out a pair of claws against some bones, but they seemed to be about equal to cesti, so I'm guessing that they're blunt damage despite the appearance.

I haven't been able to test them out yet, but do you know if the master caster baghnahks are blunt? I'd like to avoid lvling h2h high enough to be useful only to get to limbus and have no h2h item to use that works.
