Soloing Drg foods

Due to the fact that Drg are heavily despised on most servers, I've decided to inquire as to what foods should a lvl 64 Drg/Whm use to be effective.
I also think there should be a soloing food guide...

From what I have read, the gnerally accepted soloing food is defense food like Tavnazian Taco. You could also try an attack food like Coeurl Sub, but DRG doesn't have access to very high-DEF gear, so you may end up getting hit for too much with it. Accuracy food is most likely a waste; since you will be targeting mobs only a few levels above you, a couple pieces of gear like Merman's Gorget and Life Belt, along with your JT, should be enough to achieve a satisfactory hit-rate.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but since I'm a Drg/Whm, I figured I should get something a little more general.
Yellow Curry gives Atk+, MP Recovery+, and other good bonuses, and lasts 3 hours, so I figured it would make for awesome soloing Drg/Whm food. The idea for Def food didn't even occur to me, but makes a lot of sense. I'm still concerned, though...
I really need to make sure that I can enhance my survivibility. so... Def or General foods? that's a big question...

There are three inhibiting factors to deal with when soloing.
One, we have access to subpar defensive gear, even when geared to solo. The best we get is scale, which isn't exactly plate. Even Gavial isn't that great as defense, compared to what other heavy melees could solo in. We have no real defensive advantage.
Two, there is a delay between taking damage and getting HB off, which in the wrong situation can be fatal.
Three, mana management. Even if all you ever cast is Dia, you're still going to burn through a large chunk of your MP when taking on XP-able mobs.
Damage and accuracy aren't an issue. Unless you're very particular about your xp/hr, hMP isn't that big of a deal (bring a dark staff). That leaves how hard you get hit, and how fast. Slow will almost never land. There's not much you can do about the casting delay except keep the helm on and the Dia button ready. So, work on defense and vitality. Focus on it, even. It helps with all three issues. You might be able to get away with an attack-ish tanking food, but that's where it's really up to your experimentation.

I dont think you have it yet, but at some lvl you get Spirit Taker, which will ease all your MP troubles. Its a staff WS though.

soloing is much easier with RDM sub, two reasons
1. Fast Cast- it makes a big difference
2. Poison- it doesn't stick as much as Dia, however it's a
mere 5mp per use, also the cast time on it is pretty
quick
I've soloed a few times with rdm sub and was able to take on T bats at lvl 57, but of course the links usuallyu kill me T.T

Since your defense sucks why not try subbing nin? Bring along au'laits to keep hp up.

I have heard of a friend who soloed as DRG/BRD, due to songs not using MP and being uninterruptable. Worth a try if you're brave...
