Announcing FINAL FANTASY XI Fan Festival 2006!

Square Enix is proud to announce the largest FINAL FANTASY XI event ever created! Taking place on the famous Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, Fan Festival 2006 will be our first multi-day event featuring numerous attractions. Taking place March 9th-11th, the Festival includes the world premiere of the playable Treasures of Aht Urhgan, the first chance to speak with the development team from Japan, Ballista Royale live championship and much, much more! As an added bonus, each registered attendee will receive a gobbie bag filled with goodies and a special in-game item! Spaces are limited, so buy your tickets today!

No surprise here, but this makes it fairly certain that the expansion will come out in April, or at the latest May.

Given that we already have the items for the Valentine's Day event, it's probably safe to say that we won't have another big patch until the expansion is ready to come out. At that point, we'll see the patch that includes all the new items from the expansion (since everyone has to be able to view the items, even if they don't buy the expansion,) just like we saw when CoP came out.

Not really, we've had updates in Feburuary in 2004 and 2005, but they have been after Valentines Day. (Feb 26th 2004 & Feb 24th 2005) I wouldn't discount a Feb. update in 2006.

Something else to note is that iGame 2005 Tour days were always close to updates, usually being within a week. This gives them something to talk about at the events.

I dont remember them talking about anything in a recent patch at the iGames event I went to.

I dont think we'll see a "Major" patch before its close to the launch of the Expansion. within a month of the launch we will see quite a few updates to bring the client up to speed.
