I hope this does not violate these board rule

Promotion or requests for information about server-specific events, Linkshells, crafting or other in-game character assistance, or any other server-specific information.

If they do I am sure this will not even be seen.

But does anyone know if it is possible to minimize the screen while playing FFXI on a PC. Being new it is nice to be able to togle every now and then to check new post and see if I have anything I can craft yet.

Somepage isn't really designed for specific servers in such and I'm not sure if they want that sort of things on here.

I.E. Linkshells, help with bosses, missions, etc.

Somepage is merely a great info sight. With a little bit of everything. If you want to post stuff about joining linkshells, and help n such I recommend the site KillingIfrit.com They have a large forum where you can post such things.

And as far as the minimizing FF, I believe there is a program that allows you to do this.

--I'm pretty sure it doesn't violate your Square-Enix Agreement or anything, but if you try this program I'd double check before you try it out--

If you want to look into this you can probably ask around or go to google and try FFXI + Mods or FFXI + Minimizing or something like that. I'm sure you could find it if you want to.

Hope this helps! :)

Archbell Windower, http://ffxi.archbell.com/, will do the trick.

If you ever lose the link, you can always come back here to somepage and find it under "FFXI Links" on the left.

Unfortunately there is NO way to legally do that. There is a third party program out there that I believe is illegal that will allow you to minimize it. Google ffxi windower if you want to know more.

The windower is a clear violation of ToS, but considering it doesn't do much that has not been available widely to the Japanese population for a much longer time, and cannot be detected by SE, it is generally widely accepted, though there's quite a bit of controversy regarding whether or not it's cheating. The windower itself uses no form of botting, but it allows many other hacks to be used in the background that would otherwise not work if it was full-screen. It also has support of various plugins and etc. that make use of information the game provides in your memory to do things like show the TP and MP of party/alliance members, and other things.

Whether or not you get it, it's up to you. However, if you decide to get it, do NOT download it from anywhere other than FFXi Inside, because otherwise you are liable to get keylogged and have your account 'borrowed indefinately.' Official site only.

Okay thanks for the reply. I know this is moderated and each posting checked that is why I included it in the original message so if it did violate the board rules they would delete it. If this was missed I do appologize. Personally if it violates the rules I will not do it.

I will however get a new hub (My router is full for house network) and add my laptop so I can view it at the same time. That should not violate any rules.

It's not a violation of these board rules to ask about it; as I mentioned in previous post, the link to the windower is right on the FFXI Links from this very site. It's a useful tool in itself, minus add-ons that take it steps further. Just don't get the other stuff like TPParty - you're not missing much anyway.

By definition it's against SE TOS as a third-party program, but in practical application the stand-alone Windower has no cheat/unfair advantage involved by being able to minimize FFXI. Enjoy!

Try asking over at Archbell; they have forums there and you'll probably get a ton of responses. Or even find it already asked/discussed and get your answer that way.

I'm not sure thats possible. Try going to the web site and asking Arch or posting on their forums. The problem is the windower hooks into the executable, but you are first wrapping the exe in another program. Sorry I don't have a better answer, but I would have to say definately maybe...
