Final fantasy for PS3

I read that people playing with xbox 360 will be able to play final fantasy 11 online soon but does anyone no if sony will have it when the ps3 comes out? I really do hope so.

I read it will not happen in Sony's opinion. Basically it's a maybe.

I doubt it will because it doesn't make much economic sence, most people already have it on ps2 and probably wont re-buy it but maybe ffxi-ps2 version will be compatable with the ps3?

so does this meam i would have to buy an xbox 360 if i wanted the remake of this game? also i read that xbox360 will now have other final fantasy games later is this true?

Square-Enix has stated they will develop games for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360; they want in on as many markets as they can.

They have not stated anything about bringing FFXI to the PS3, one way or another. S-E got somewhat burned over how Sony ended up handling the hard drive for the PS2, so presumably they'll be cautious about porting to the PS3 unless they're certain it has strong hard drive support, which is required to play FFXI on any platform.

In short, we don't know; it all depends on how things shake out between Sony and S-E.

The Xbox 360 version is IDENTICAL to the PC version. (with the exceptiong of slightly better sound) I wouldn't loose to much sleep over the thought that you need an Xbox 360 to enjoy the game any more.

Its better graphically than the current PC version, but PC will get the upgrade too.

I was told by someone that Sony won't put FFXI on PS3 becuase Sony owns Everquest rights, I don't know how credible this information is, but it is something I was told.

From a technical standpoint there is absolutely no reason to port FFXI to PS3 solely based on the fact that Sony has announced the PS3 will be 100 percent compatible with PS2. So the PS2 version SHOULD work for PS3 too. However they might think of an graphical update for the PS3 only. Also keep in mind that the PS2 version of FFXI was never released in Europe.

That highly dubious as the Japanese POL is used as a gateway to Japanese EQ2. As for porting PS2 XI to PS3, I don't see why not, surely by now Sony has seen that a Hard Drive in a home console is the way to go.

Sony currently has no plans for supporting a hard drive. Because of that, it is not possible to port FFXI onto the PS3.

That is note entirly true. The PS3 will have high data flash drive compatability so it could very well be put on one of those. Problably would have to be a special flash drive made for the game but it isn't impossible.

Tell me if I am wrong but I tought SE had given all single player FFXI game right to Sony. As in all single player FFXI created by SE need to go out on a SOny platform (PS2-3). Since Crystal Cronicle on Game Cube and FFXI are not single player, they can go on other platform. Did anyone heard the same thing, please confirm. Cause if it's true SE won't make Single Player FF on Xbox360.
