It's only a matter of time till SE acts on people using the Windower program. (but then again this is SE we are talking about, so maybe in 2-3 years, lol).

It would be better if SE would come out with their own version of the windower program and market it for use in ffxi, to make a legal version at least.(not saying windower is illegal, its just a 3rd party program).

I got this game in april, and have been completely addicted to is since, have found ways to make Gill, despite the gillsellers, although have been affected by the climbing prices of some things since the last major update. Its good that SE did what they did with the job change program; I do use a windower, (azarils) just downloaded it recently, up until then i had a miserable time with my computer loosing fullscreen for things like virus updates, and general maintanece programs auto running themselves etc. The windower has completely solved this problem. The only other benefit it gives me is being able to acess info on equipment and crafting data while im playing, which any Playstation user can do without having to log out of game. If SE does crack down on windowers I think I would leave the game simply because of the fact it would return to being a nuisance to play. If SE brought out a windower of their own or made an update for a windowed format I would be more than happy to stop using the current program to comply with user rules. To be honest even if i had to go purchase a new program for few dollars to make the game "legally more enjoyable" I would. Not that I want to have to spend the money, but I like this game enought to do so.

I completely agree here. I would pay probably up to $20 or so for the windower program to use it legally in FFXI. I too run Windows XP like so many others. Norton pops up and BAM half the server goes at EXACTLY Friday 8 pm, depending on timezone and if the windower is 'broken'. Its VERY annoying.

Personally I never used anything more then the internet to search Mysterytour and Somepage for information about what I am getting myself into before NMs or Missions, since the FFXI Players guide is 1. incrediblely out of date 2. Not published or found anywhere now... This leads to sites like Somepage being a major resource for players.

Its not like we are doing anything, most likely 95% of the people with the windower have never tried a bot. Its easy to see, risky and could pose a threat to your account. If SE came out with a PC version of the windower (and yes they can do it EASILY) they could simple put the current windower to rest with the TP and other plugins (personally the TP one seems like a good idea, and the Mp one, reduces like 30% of all battle talk/spam)

A few of these people should infact be HIRED for what they can do and since they obviously use FFXI a bigger third party tool would even be the FFXI scanner to find out what each update does, or removing .dat files to reduce lag and claim HNM easier.

SE's been listening to us ALOT lately, more HNM, more quests and it appears even a new expansion pack may be coming out. Question or not is will their be a WINDOWER with me. I HATE it without a windower, but I'm getting by simply by using music queued up before hitting 'play' and launching FFXI, and Fraps or other programs as needed.

Hacking and cracking tools however, SE's doing a good job of keeping the unfair aspects out of the game, they even took a shot out of the botting programs in an ACTUALLY creative way rather then just banning everyone. Been happier using FFXI now since before when constant updates and crashes and everything plagued the system.

To be honest while i havent used the windower coz of lack of information im tempted to getit for the simple reason is that i get kicked from the game for no reason sometines even when my virus scanner isnt runnin. Also I recently got kicked off the game while campin Hoo Mjuu when they were under a DDoS attack and while the game itself was still goin I COULD NOT LOG BACK IN. I dont know much about them but id find it MUCH more useful if they just did a mod to include a windowed option rather than a Suckass fullscreeen lost kick! >:(

I suggest switching to the PS2 version. Plug your keyboard into the PS2's USB Port for conversations and macros and use the Controller to get around. I like it much better than when I too was DCing every 20-30 minutes.
