Why ask why...?

Probably for the reason the listed; players were still doing it. Currently, the only way to get the Goldfish Bowl furniture is with the Goldfish Set from this event. They probably want to make sure that everyone who wants one has gotten it, since once the event is done there won't be any way (at the present) to obtain one.

The bull-chasing event is due as part of, or after, this summerfest. I imagine they could be running late on releasing it so extended the summerfest to give them time.

Pure speculation on my part though.

You can craft the set.

You can craft the set.

That is correct; however, as stated above, crafting the Bowl takes an ingredient (which is Exclusive), that is only provided by this event. So, unless they add something else that provides that ingredient, after the event there won't be any way to make new ones.

Why do people ask why?

SE said in the statement "by popular demand", so people must have been asking them to continue the event. Or more were saying extend it than people saying to kill it.

I don't see what the goldfish bowl does. Does it only add a bit more water to the element? There's got to be more than that. I don't really have the crafting skill to make a goldfish bowl, but I have the goldfish set. Is it worth it?
