a short story about what happened at Simurgh today:

3 LS's and a party of "Gil-Sellers" camped today. Gil-Sellers got the claim. Their pt was PLD, THF, WHM, BLM, RDM... actually enough to kill him slowly and they did well until 60%, then it seemed to be harder to deal damage to him and Simurgh gave the PLD some very hard hits..2 minutes later the PLD died and in the split second the PLD died he went unclaimed somehow so one of the larger groups took over Simurgh at like 55%. They were raped within a few minutes (actually no newbs, 14-15 people strong ally). When they all were dead, another LS claimed him and tried to pull him down the ledge but got almost instantly killed while trying ^^
My LS had full force there and we decided to let him get to full HP before we claim, because he seemed unbeatable for now. The last hit he gave a RDM running away was around 700dmg(not even critical!!!)

After he went back to full HP, we claimed and killed him as usual in 10 maybe 15 minutes without any problems.

So, a single party cannot longer kill Simurgh and claim steal or take overs are deadly even for full force allyances :D He has to get to full HP, if you claim too early you have no chance^^

actually, well done SE i like this.

So am I to gather that no longer will "bots" or players will be allowed to instantaneously voke mobs when they pop... if so i am impressed and pleased that they have done this... finally. And how long a duration are we talking about?

Yes, no longer can a 6-man party of gilsellers take any of these mobs. Everything seems to be goin all right for them until around 40% HP or so, then the mob gets uber stronger and kills everyone very quickly. I was at Serket right after maintenance, and 2 JP got him, a NIN and a RDM. They were doing fine until around 40% HP. All I saw was hate started to bounce everywhere and the NIN died, followed by the RDM, followed by me and everyone around who tried to claim him. (He hit me for 800 dmg, no critical, Im a RDM, had no buffs on tho.) So we let him go unclaimed, regen to full again, and called our LS to come back up. So they came, raised us all and we took him down pretty fast. I'm proud to see SE do something about these NMs. Oh and /blockaid rules........and also don't try spamming Dia/Stun/Flash/Voke/Charm on a mob. I'm not sure if you'll even get the claim if you try within 1 or 2 seconds of it popping, but if you at least try, you can't use it again for AWHILE. With most gilseller groups, they have a 6-man pty with the usual xp-setup, tank, whm, rdm, blm, thf, DD. So, imagine the tank spamming voke, to claim the mob. Even if he does get the claim, he won't be able to voke again for a while, I'm not sure exactly how long, but obviously after hate has gone down over time, the tank will lose it, and everyone will die. hehe So...grats to SE for finally thinking of something.

I disagree. Gilseller parties will now need to focus and simply organize themselves better. We claimed Simurgh after maintenance, and it was just 5-6 of us. NIN WAR MNK BLM RDM. We had a THF, but he was afk for majority of the fight. Someone, our MNK beat the 30 others there to claim, which I attribute to the new waiting system. Things were so so at first, he was just dying a bit slower. THF returned with about 15% health left. We were stalling the death because we wanted the THF to give the final blow. However, it got to the point where our fully decked out THF was only hitting for 0-5. Our decked out BLM was landing Thunder4 for 200.

So, he is longer to kill, but still fully manageable with less than 6.
