Dropped by Blackbeard NM on Selbina<->Mhaura boat, scary skeleton NM spams ancient magic and ga-spells, bring some friends if you want to have a chance.

Any idea what level this NM is. Most of the skeles that come up are easily solable by level 50 types. Being that he spams Ancient magic one would think he's at least 50 for freeze. Did he use other ancient magic? Were you able to land silence on him at all?

I didn't met him in person yet, doesn't really seem to be soloable at any level according to what I heard. Maybe a rdm75/nin37 might have a chance, but probably not enough time to kill it.

Can't be silenced, if it was possible to silence, all would be nice and easy since the spells is all that is dangerous, it is atleast lv65 or so, also uses Waterga III and other ancient magic :o

Ok making an update here;

Silverhook is SOLOABLE by WHM/NIN and maybe MNK/WHM.

Special attacks are all Ancient Magic spells, Waterga III and Blizzard III along with standard skeleton TP moves, also have a 2hr, I think it's manafont? (It doesn't show in log) but it doesn't make NM cast more.

Blackbeard is also soloable by WHM/NIN but fairly harder due to higher hp, MNK/WHM could also perhaps solo (if lucky with the spellcasting).

Special attacks is same as Silverhook but casts Tier 2 -ga spells too, especially Thundaga II, same 2hr as Silverhook.

Blackbeard seems to cast slightly more often than Silverhook but generally they are fairly easy, even if Blackbeard is a really hard challenge to solo as WHM due to the time limit.

Blackbeard is not soloable by any level. I watched a 75pld and a 60+ (cant remember exact lvl) fight him a while back, after the pld using 2hr and lots of hard work they were actually getting close to beating him (4/5 health or so) but they ran out of time and the ship landed. If a pld and a whm cant kill an undead mob I declare it cant be done w/ anything less than 3 ppl =D.

Do not be fooled by the post Above, the Boat Pirates NM's are Not Soloable for Any WHM/NIN, or MONK, or RDM.

They give anywhere from 25-100 exp if your level 75 and you kill it with 2 people( probably a very Tough to level 75). I speak from first hand exspeirence, that this mob is not Soloable by a WHM/NIN, His aga spells are the biggest problem, unless you have ES(elemental seal), he wont silence, and even if you do, it wont last very long(15 seconds). he likes to spam all of his AOE moves, thats nearly what kills ya. Also if thats not enough for ya, i tried to Solo them again later on after my first attempt, the second attempt was much better, as i was able to stay alive the whole time, only problem is, the boat landed early, and i had only gotten him down halfway.

Only job known to Solo this is SMN and Possibly BST. They can be Easily Duo'd by 2 lvl 75's of almost any job.

actually, i saw a 75 NIN solo him just the other day while i was waiting for Sea Horror to spawn. well, technically, he didn't completely solo it, as he got d/c'd when BB was at about 2% HP, then a nearby whm used Cure V and killed it >.>

lol, I soloed Blackbeard as WHM/NIN. Slow is your friend.
You just have to be careful, not letting shadows down, because it hits very hard. But between Stoneskin, Flash, and Utsusemi, it's not very hard to do, just practice soloing first. One more thing, clubs and Hexa Strike owns it.
Too bad it didn't drop anything.

They can be solo'd if you have skill and a little luck (and come prepared with food/yag drinks/icarus wing).

Not too long ago I watched 3 WHM75 take on Blackbeard. One subbed NIN, one subbed SMN, and one already had the cudgel, but I don't recall what he had subbed. All three of them wound up using Benediction during the fight, so I wouldn't say they had an easy time of it. Even with Shell 4 and magic def bonus they were taking sometimes 600 from ga 3 spells.

Me(RDM75/BLM37) and Ivace (NIN/BLM) were duoing Silverhook. Ivace had only fishing gear, and I had basic AF. We kicked its butt.

Silverhook averaged 110 damage on me as a RDM. Only nasty thing was blood saber and the constant spells. We weren't buffed or prepared, we just jumped it as it spawned. Invited an outside group at 20% to help kill. (WHM + PLD)

Killed and got drop. Silverhook is by no means hard, pretty confident a NIN/DRG could kick its butt with 2 mamushito and full haste gear.

PLD get timeouts on Maat too.
Despite strange rumors the PLD is not anything anywhere near a DD. A WHM in endgame deals more dmg.
