EDIT: Removing this from a sticky; just make new topics instead of replying here, now.

Feedback can be left here regarding any items that aren't in our FFXI database, that are listed incorrectly or are missing information.

Does anyone have a clue what the stupid drop "Fernan's Diaries" is supposed to be for? I don't see any mention for it doing anything on any of the regular FFXI sites. Keep getting it and tossing it out.

That item, along with a number of other Exclusive items that drop from various beastmen, is used in a Chains of Promathia quest. The quest is "Ducal Hospitality" from Taillegeas in Ru'Lude Gardens, and can only be accessed once a character is past CoP mission 3-2. Random items are required for the quest (they change each time it's done) and can include any of five Exclusive items put in with the expansion: Fernan's Diaries, Naphille Pochette, Counterfeit Gil, Eastern Paper, Nyumomo Doll.

Once the quest section is added to the site, in the future, we'll have full details about this and all the other quests, of course.

The page located at /itemdb/abjuration.php states:

"The Wyrmal Abjuration armor set is unlike the rest of the abjuration armor, in that it does not have any negative attributes on it."

However, it might be nice to note that it makes the wearer of said abjuration pieces intimidated by Dragoons (both mobs and other PC spell targets).

not just dragoons, anyone with 'dragon killer' effect, including the pld wearing the hrotti. Its ammusing to watch the rdm wearing that gear try to cure or refresh a pld wearing the hrotti. The rdm gets intimidated and cant refresh the pld. So ya, that's definately a negative.

For the Signed in Blood quest found in San d'Oria the inforatiom states:

"Obtain a Cathedral Tapestry. These are Rare/Ex and dropped from Orcish Fighters in either section of Yughott Grotto."

I was able to get the tapestry from an Orcish Fighter in Fort Ghelsba.

yeah, about the Wyrmal set...its pretty funny

A rng friend of mine has like 2/5 of the set, and we were in dynamis, and a drg popped his wyvern up.

"The RNG is intimidated by the Vanguard Wyvern's presence."

Naturally I screenied it, cause its hilarious.

but yes, the Wyrmal set makes you act and feel like a dragon, which is definately not a good thing.

Thanks for the info. The database has been updated for that drop; the December Patch Compilation of Info will be changed the next time it is updated.

Correction about the equipment names:
The actual name of the body armor "Brigandine" and "Brigandine + 1" is "Brigadine Armor" resp. "Brigadine Armor + 1".
I'm wearing this armor now :)

Under Goblin Mushpot, it says unknown if defense down and resist are still atributes on this. I bought one from the gobbie shop in Lower Jeuno today to try it out and the only noticable effect was +10 mnd.

Thanks for the info about the Brigandine. At the site here, we use the short name from items, instead of the long one that shows up when you buy or otherwise obtain it in the game. For example, we use "Brass Scales" instead of a "handful of brass scales", as it's listed in the long description in the game. With this approach, we end up using the simple shorter names of some armor, like Brigandine.

Is there any plan to add quest or [none crafting] usuage info on items? I know it would be too much to have item link to full fledge quest guide, but how about name of quest, location and starting NPC?

A complete quest database is in the works, which will reflect all the items used and obtained in quests. Putting all this together is a large-scale endeavor that won't be completed in the immediate future, but it will show up eventually.
