I recently began playing Final Fantasy XI (just yesterday, in fact), and I finally managed to get to level 9 after completing the second mission in Bastok.

Everything has been going smoothly, except for the fact that no matter how many times I clear out the Palborough Mines, the Quadavs never drop those elusive Fetich parts (except for the first run, in which I got the head and leg before being pummeled to death by an angry quartet of Quadavs).

So, my question is, is there any way to do either get the foes to drop the parts or a place I can go to in order to train (preventing my constant deaths)?

Such a shame it took so long for someone to respond. You\'ve probably been running around Palborough for days now trying to level up -- just like I did when I started in 2004. No one was around to tell me what I\'m about to tell you: head to the Valkrum Dunes. People level there from 10-20. Just find the town of Selbina, and stand just outside of it with your green party flag up. Someone will invite you before too long.

Another thing you may check ... is the Auction House. I don\'t know your gil situation, but you can occasionally find parts there =)
