Hi,

I\'m wondering if anyone knows how to type Japanese characters in English version of FFXI. The Windows IME doesn\'t seem to work with this game and it is not officially supported.

But I heard from someone that there is a 3rd party software I can install to be able to write Japanese characters.

I also wonder if I get Japanese version of PlayOnline, that may also work??

Please let me know if you know anything about it.

Buy the japanese version, easy to get banned from using the 3rd party program, i have been caught out myself using it. PS: Dont understand the japaese language? dont bother.

I\'m guessing you were caught because you talked about doing it through windower, or mentioned the IME plugin in-game. Otherwise there is no way for them to differentiate from those running JP POL, unless for some reason they singled you out based purely on assumption.

Out of curiosity how long was the ban, and how were you informed of it?

Most people can tell easily enough whether or not you\'re JP or NA based on the way you talk. If someone\'s reasonably sure you\'re NA and they see you spewing kanji and kana all over the place they report you and the GMs can absolutely see which client you\'re using

How would those people reporting have any idea you aren\'t using JP client though? Plenty of NA\'s use JP client. This isn\'t like TP-watch where if you can see someone\'s TP it automatically means you\'re windowing. Like I said you\'d have to be unfairly singled out first to determine that, which is ridiculous.

It\'s along the same lines as those idiots that call GMs when someone uses Powder Boots because they think they\'re using Flee Tool. And I still stand by my suspicion that the person a few posts up got banned because they were talking about it in game. I\'m not saying it is impossible to get banned, but use of the plugin requires SOME discretion on the part of the user.
